That's interesting, indeed. Thanks for sharing.KatieK101 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 02, 2022 12:13 pm "Red Knobs (Union Rags) won the Manitoba Derby at Assiniboia yesterday! He is out of a Lonhro mare."
^ Mylute posted this in the 3YOs thread, but I'm bringing it over here to add that Red Knobs is a full brother to Impulsive One, a National Hunt stakes winner. Very interesting! Red Knobs himself was GSP before this breakthrough stakes win.
she was bred last year but was barren. she's still alive, at least per her page on the Argentinean Studbook.KatieK101 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 06, 2022 11:24 pm Blue Stripe, a half sister to Breeder’s Cup Distaff winner Blue Prize, notched her first US G1 in the Clement L. Hirsch! She was already a G1 winner in Argentina.
For those curious, Blues For Sale most recently had a 2020 filly named Blue Coast, still based in Argentina. From what I gather that is the last time she was bred, although I also couldn’t find any sort of death certificate.
I didn't know there was an Argentinean Studbook! https://www.drf.com/news/asmussen-sends ... avers-workMarsalis, a 3-year-old son of Curlin and a half-brother to the Grade 1 winner Pauline’s Pearl, is working his way back to the races. He breezed five furlongs in 1:02.92 on Monday. He hasn’t run since winning a maiden race March 26 at Fair Grounds.
Asmussen said that after Marsalis returned to Churchill following his win at Fair Grounds he wasn’t himself, so he sent him back to Stonestreet Farm.
“There’s a level of talent there,” Asmussen said. “You see with his pedigree who he is and how fast he ran in his two races. Didn’t want to take any risks knowing you expect him to be a stakes horse for a while.”
Hope he can be gelded and retrained for a second career.Mylute wrote: ↑Thu Aug 11, 2022 10:36 am According to this article, Q B One is "out of training."
