It ties in with her mom's name. Sure there was probably something better. Raven's Nest was Marion Ravenwood's club (the name Raven's Nest is reserved though, so they couldn't use that), so they just went with Nest.

Really surprised given her breeding, but Baffert said Coolmore told him as long as she is doing good, she can race at 5. He said he really wants to win a G1 with her.

I completely forgot ATGB was out of Take Charge Lady so I did a genuine double take earlier.

I'm not sure what to take out of this--not necessarily a bad field, but Harvest Moon went home early and Moonlight d'Oro no challenge--but at least As Time Goes By showed interest and determination after some really awful races. If she'd lost today they might have retired her.

Nice mare, but a touch below the top mares. I wouldn’t be surprised if she won a watered down CA grade 1.

Touch Code, a 3/4 brother to West Coast, ran a big race to finish second to a Pletcher buzz saw ...mile debut, trainee by Mott. Can’t wait for his next start.

That Pletcher buzzsaw is Emmanuel, and he isn't too shabbily bred either:
Emmanuel (More Than Ready) was bred in Kentucky by the Helen K. Groves Revocable Trust. He is the second foal and first starter out of the Hard Spun mare Hard Cloth , a daughter of Trensa. The dam is a half to group/grade 1 winners Hawkbill and Free Drop Billy.

This was on the same card as the Mr. Prospector (gr. III), which was won by Officiating -- a half-brother to champion Caledonia Road by Blame.

No he's not. I'm guessing the race came up very strong.

I'm still hurting over America's Joy. No one can know if she was a loss to racing, but to those who follow breeding lines and hope the offspring do well. . .
