Perfect Grace (Tapit x Havre de Grace) is running in the upcoming 7th at Saratoga, a 7-furlong MSW for F&M 3yo+up. Maybe she will follow her sister's (Graceful Princess) lead and win today.
This race also sees the debut of Mezcal (Pioneerof the Nile x Cathryn Sophia) from Pletcher, owned by Bobby Flay.

More Moonshine (Malibu Moon) was a drawing-away impressive winner in the 7th at Saratoga. Perfect Grace was a clear 2nd.

I have to say that I don't remember seeing a jockey sit so motionless on a horse down the stretch since Victor Espinoza on Officer in the Champagne Stakes in 2001! I know that was 20 years ago now, but I have never forgotten it.

It still amazes me how a jock can just sit on a running horse like that and not move a muscle. Even his hands never budged an inch! Maybe I'm just naive or something, but that just blows me away!!😁

I didn’t want to make a new post for this....but in the baby turf race at Saratoga on Saturday, Informal, out of Epsom Oaks winner Casual Look, had the most beautiful tail I’ve ever seen - dark with a big gray streak. A friend of mine said this is called flaxen, but isn’t flaxen more golden yellow or blond ?

If the tailbone ever got a cut or gash on it, the hair that would grow back over the scar would be white. McLain Ward used to have a horse named Vocas who was liver chestnut with a white streak in his tail.

We had a quarter horse at the small riding group I use to attend that was allergic to bees, and if he got stung the hair would grow back white.

One of our guys had eye surgery and had to wear blinkers that fully covered one eye to keep the light off the retina. Unfortunately the cup of the blinker rubbed above his eye, and the hair grew back in white so now he has a permanent white eyebrow! Have to use brown chalk/pastels to cover it up when he competes.

At that age it's likely just left over foal flaxen. It can take years to fully grow out.

Mylute.......aww, poor baby, but the white must have been gorgeous!

North, that's funny! He's not allowed to compete with the white?

One race I missed Saturday was Beau Liam's nose victory at the Spa:
The 3-year-old Beau Liam validated his 7 1/2-length debut win at Churchill on May 29 with a gritty nose victory Saturday over fellow second-time starter Witsel in a seven-furlong first-level allowance race. Beau Liam, a son of Liam’s Map, ran seven furlongs in 1:22.90 and earned a Beyer Speed Figure of 106, as did Witsel.

Definitely one to keep an eye on. He's by Liam's Map out of G2W Belle of Perintown.

He technically can, but sometimes it can be distracting in a judged class if the horse has a bunch of little white knicks on his face and/or legs (which they almost all tend to have... if they can find a way to get themselves into trouble, they will!)
