he's been euthanized. horrible, horrible injury. i saw a tweet mentioning that he had been refusing to go into the gate too and it took them a while to get him in.
Though Tariff Line had been pulled up in the home straight, the JRA announced that he had suffered injuries to both his iliac bones (pelvis). [...] Rest in peace.

Wonder if all the rearing he did in the gate might have started the injury and then racing finished it. Poor colt........brunanas wrote: ↑Thu Dec 28, 2023 6:32 amhe's been euthanized. horrible, horrible injury. i saw a tweet mentioning that he had been refusing to go into the gate too and it took them a while to get him in.

-----------
JRA's annual handle kept soaring for more than 40 years from 1956 through 1997 when it peaked at ¥4,000,661,633,100 (approx. US$28.0 billion), which is 360 times of 1955.
It started to sag in 1998 and the downward trend lasted for 14 years, which was the same period when the Japanese economy remained sluggish. It has been analyzed that very few horse racing fans left, while the betting amount per person reduced significantly. The bottom year was 2011, when the handle was ¥2,293,578,053, 600 (approx. US$16 billion), which was 57.3% of the peak year.
It started to bounce back in 2012 and 2023 is the 12th year of an upward trend when the fan base expanded as younger generations started to enjoy betting on horse racing through their cell phones. The number of horse racing fans increased during the COVID-19 pandemic, as people were ordered to stay at home and many of them found horse racing as an amusement that they can enjoy at home.

A good read; thank you for sharing. I like to think of myself of a fancier of pedigrees but I am embarrassed to admit I had never heard of Moanin. What a terrific start he has been off to at stud.tachyon wrote: ↑Thu Jan 04, 2024 10:31 am ''POSTHUMOUS FIRST JAPANESE SIRES' CHAMPIONSHIP FOR DURAMENTE''

Moanin(USA)(Henny Hughes) has mainly been appreciated by small/medium-size breeders in Japan and covering good number of mares since his debut.
Standing at Yushun Stallion Station, his stud fee for 2024 has been raised to JPY1,500,000. He started from JPY500,000 in 2020.
Let's hope he will soon be represented by eye-catching winners in JRA, too!!

Looks like he is going to the Saudi Derby. https://twitter.com/WHR/status/1745465257080873351tachyon wrote: ↑Fri Dec 01, 2023 10:53 amAccording to Netkeiba.com, his connections are considering the Saudi Derby as one option.Starine wrote: ↑Sun Nov 26, 2023 9:14 pmThat family continues to churn out runners. Henny Hughes(USA) x Yukichan(JPN) by Kurofune(USA), won the Catteleya Stakes 1600m dirt at Tokyo on Nov 25th 2023.
Catteleya Stakes is the first leg of the Japan Road to the Kentucky Derby series.
Will we see a white thoroughbred run at Churchill Downs next year?

[Predicted Entry: Saudi Derby]

I think that Amante Bianco basically has three options:
option 1 = Saudi Derby / UAE Derby ---> Kentucky Derby
option 2 = Japan Road to the Kentucky Derby point races ---> Kentucky Derby
option 3 = stay in Japan to contest the inaugural ''Japan's Dirt Triple Crown''

Shin Emperor(FR)(G3 winner & G1 runner-up on turf) and Forever Young(JPN)(Jpn1 winner on dirt) are also among them.
Let's see if AB will be selected.
(I guess that he will be selected)

Watching the great Arrow Stud Show live, like i do every year....these stallions are so well cared for, and it shows.
Feast for the eyes, Chrome, Lani, firenze Fire, Pantalaasa, Shanghai Bobby got even more gorgeous if that is even possible.
Once a year is not enough for me though!
Typos, sorry spellings. Virtual keyboards are terrible
