Any mare that ends up at Summer Wind is definitely doing to be taken care of! Jane loves her horses. Although I wouldn't say that Careless Jewel is much of a producer. From five foals of racing age, Reframe is her only winner, and she's been bred to the top stallions (PotN, Tapit, Meg, Street Cry, and AP).

Back to Reframe, is her style of running generic? I don't know much about genetics, but I do wonder if that's why none of her other foals have accomplished anything on the racetrack. I'm curious to see if Tattered Flag has the same problem.

I don't know.
But I think that's an interesting point.
And it would be curious to see how Tatter Flag walks in the sale ring.
One thing is for certain -- Reframe's strange habit is not from an injury.
Yusuke Yamaguchi refers to her stiffness in the back of her left-side neck, which makes it difficult for her to turn or move to the left.
It looks like that's one of the main issues Yamaguchi and Nemoto are trying to solve.

Looking better but still quite a bit of head tossing and resistance to the bit- wonder if a different bit could be tried with less tongue pressure?

Yamaguchi referred to the bit issue some time ago, too.
I believe that they are checking up her bit suitability together with dental health.

Looks much better on these videos. It is too bad she can’t just be retrained as a riding horse- she is looking so relaxed- I fear a return to racing will make her anxious again.

Then she'll be retired to be a broodmare.

The only thing I would love to see them do is to work her in company of 3 or 4 other horses. Only because I think that in a race, she might go into flight mode again, when there is a herd around her. Basically what is left to do is to learn her to listen to her rider, even if she is surrounded by other horses.

I'm so very pleased with how her connections have handled her training and treatment. I think she is on a fast track for success.

Wish more trainers would follow this type of patient/ non- cowboy training regimen - seems like Thousand Words could benefit from some retraining regarding saddling. I also wonder if they have checked him for ulcers ( belly pain when tightening girth) or back pain ( anticipation of pain when jockey gets on)?

Yusuke Yamaguchi (owner, pre-trainer) has just tweeted today:
''It's been a year since then.''

I wonder if the ''Reframe Story'' will be made into a movie some day! :D

Agreed!
Reframe has been retrained at a farm in Hokkaido after her debut race.
Yusuke Yamaguchi (owner, pre-trainer) and his collaborators are taking care of her at the moment.
She will be sent back to the Training Center in Miho at some point where Yoichi Kuroiwa (JRA-licensed trainer) is waiting for her.
And at the Training Center in Miho, I believe that she will work in company of other horses before she takes on the re-examination imposed by JRA stewards.

Yusuke Yamaguchi said: ''My job is just to bring her back to Miho in the best possible conditions.''

Love that they are doing jumps with her. She learns to mind where she puts her feet with that. I also love how transparent they are with the training approach. They're doing everything right and by the book!

Agree. Still seeing some bit resistance and head tossing- would still investigate bits with less tongue pressure.

I'm not sure if the first thing that comes to mind is "dressage training."
Maybe most jumpers learn some dressage, but I don't know that all dressage horses learn to jump.
Still, this sort of exercise should keep her mind engaged and entertained, plus burn off some of that 2yo energy. :D

I think a lot of the chaotic nature of it has to be that she's a two year old (and a bit of a nutty one at that) going over jumps for the first time. Even when we start jumping out 4 year olds, they're squirmy and distracted constantly.
