Micheline won the Dueling Ground Oaks at KY Downs....she’s by Bernardini out of G1 winner Panty Raid.
She’s such a nice filly - I’m glad she got one of these big prizes.

Odd name for a horse he has, “Shovelhead”.

Odd name for a horse he has, “Shovelhead”.
I suspect that his Curlin colt has been named after the Harley-Davidson's Shovelhead engine.

Kazuo Fujisawa (Vanishing Point's trainer) said yesterday:
''I asked the owner (Yuji Hasegawa) to purchase this colt a year ago as my dream was to win the Kentucky Derby.
We will race him next in the Ivy Stakes on the turf again. But I would love to go the Kentucky Derby with him next year.''

That's pretty cool. I thought Sheer Drama was a neat racemare to win grade I's at 7 and 10 furlongs. Wonder if she has any other foals on the ground.

2019 dkb/br filly by Deep Impact. It doesn't look like she had a foal in 2020, though she had been bred to Heart's Cry.

I thought Kelsey is a good trainer but someone else said that if the horse wants a prayer of having a good career she needs a new barn

"Gladys" is a Welsh name (sometimes spelled Gwladys, which is even worse). It may be the Welsh version of the Latin Claudia. One name information site a google search pulled up amusingly comments that "Gladys" was the "Harper" of 1900, emerging out of nowhere to take the baby-name world by storm. Apparently the owner's grandmother's parents were part of that enthusiasm.
