2yo c River Tiber (War Front - Liscanna), a full brother to G1Ws Hit It A Bomb and Brave Anna, is running in SAR R5. He was fourth in his first start. Wesley Ward trains for Coolmore. With that pedigree, I wonder why he isn’t with AOB at Ballydoyle. .

Coolmore, which often has an embarrassment of well-bred riches, may be spreading their running stock out a bit. And aren't American purses a bit higher than what they run for in Ireland or England?

They’ve been sending Wesley Ward nice horses for the last couple years, starting (or seemingly starting) when Wesley almost singlehandedly made Scat Daddy a European sensation, winning multiple Royal Ascot stakes with his progeny. From what I’ve read in the past, Coolmore usually buys in later (No Nay Never, Hootenanny) or lets WW pick out horses at the sales (Acapulco), or transferred from Aidan O’Brien (The Great War), so maybe now they’re expanding into homebreds for him. I know they have at least a couple American Pharoah foal shares coming down the pipe with him, with Judy the Beauty’s foals being the first to come to mind.
It is strange though that River Tiber was sold as a yearling from Evie Stockwell (John Magnier’s mother) to Coolmore. But still, she’s pretty much a Coolmore homebred.
I dont think it is a surprise that people have started to send almost exclusively fast maturing speedsters to Wesley Ward in the last 5 years. Stonestreet, Ramseys, Coolmore - the goal is to win at Royal Ascot, and I would guess that River Tiber had a setback in the spring that stopped that from happening.

I am pretty sure that Wesley Ward bred 9 mares to AP in his first crop based on RMB. I doubt he was paying full price. I think Coolmore wanted to get AP off to a fast start and giving War access to him from the beginning was a good bet to help accomplish this.Northport wrote: ↑Sun Jul 26, 2020 5:37 pm They’ve been sending Wesley Ward nice horses for the last couple years, starting (or seemingly starting) when Wesley almost singlehandedly made Scat Daddy a European sensation, winning multiple Royal Ascot stakes with his progeny. I think it's also possible that River Tiber is just perceived as a cut below right now. He wasn't particularly good in that race, and Irad getting on the other Ward might have been a bit of a tell.
That horse, Outadore, looked great though. Half to Piedi Bianchi.

I would love to hear why great turf mares tend to breed on better than their dirt counterparts.ThreeMustangs wrote: ↑Tue Jul 28, 2020 11:23 amBattleground won again and is likely headed to a G1 next.ThreeMustangs wrote: ↑Mon Jul 27, 2020 9:45 pmBattleground is the favorite in the Vintage S (G2) at Goodwood tomorrow.

Saw today in HW that Custom Pete was found in a kill pen in LA, was bailed, but had injuries and wounds, ultimately requiring him to be euthanized.Mylute wrote: ↑Fri Feb 14, 2020 12:47 pm Twin Thoroughbreds Custom Pete, Halo Carlos Set To Debut Together At Delta Downs

What is HW?
There must be some way to track down who is responsible for this occurring. The way to prevent this from happening is to stop the horse from going to the kill pen in the first place, because bailing them out only gives more money to the killers (who are aware of this, and use it to exploit horse rescuers).

I'm assuming its for the H and W the in site name 'horseracingwrongs.org' which is what I found when I just went looking for the story on him - it would appear from what they said he was injured in his race that he ran poorly in and dumped in the slaughter pipeline - his pictures at rescue are very sad - his owner and trainer are apparently brothers with a not so good reputation and still have the other other - it would be good for Paulick to do a follow up to bring attention to them, Louisiana seems to be one of the worst places to be a thoroughbred - I realize the bad things happen everywhere (I live in Florida where they're dumped and stolen for slaughter) but it seems to be out in the open there with no consequences at all for owners/trainers.Mylute wrote: ↑Sat Aug 01, 2020 11:34 am What is HW?

Paulick has a tip line on his website where you can write in. It might be more effective to tip the writers through social media though.
