I just saw this one racing at Keeneland today--- THROMBOCYTOPENIA by Magician
Who names their horse after a terrible blood disease? Unreal.

Who are these reviewers at the JC? Should not be approved. These really bad names cheapen our sport and disrespects our brave equine athletes who try so hard just for our pleasure and financial gain. I would like to see all of the alcohol- related names stop too.

Like you said those types of names are disrespectful to the equine athletes!!Squeaky wrote: ↑Fri Oct 14, 2022 10:53 am Who are these reviewers at the JC? Should not be approved. I don't know that I would classify Thrombocytopenia as 'horrible,' or as 'disrespectful' to the horse. This name may be to draw attention to the disease and efforts to combat it. There have been several horses named with 'Autism' in their names, such as Autism Awareness, so this isn't terribly unusual.

Names like that probably shouldn't be approved. At least not without some sort of----can't think of the right word, so---modifier. Not only that, I think horses live up to their names sometimes. I remember a couple of horses running in the past that were named Tripod. As if a horse should EVER be named for something with only three legs! Both horses' final races were DNF's.......barbaro111 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 14, 2022 6:26 pmLike you said those types of names are disrespectful to the equine athletes!!Squeaky wrote: ↑Fri Oct 14, 2022 10:53 am Who are these reviewers at the JC? I mean even "Tapitrice" (one word) would've been so much better, but nooooo

Today 5th race, Santa Anita, horse named Low Expectations-- The horse will probably live down to its name---why not name the horse High Expectations?--- I never understand why owners name a horse some awful name

We've been talking about Strong Odor for a couple of years on here. It's an amusing name - and that horse has a huge fan base because of it. If the horse doesn't care, you probably shouldn't either.barbaro111 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 23, 2023 11:21 amI know the horse doesn't care LOLJustahorse wrote: ↑Sun Jul 23, 2023 7:15 amHighly doubt the horse cares I doubt that's even it's barn namebarbaro111 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 23, 2023 6:21 am Just saw the name of a horse running at Saratoga Sunday by the name of

Remember Smelly? Second in Fountain of Youth, won Federico Tesio ... all that despite his name, which came courtesy of his sire, Judge Smells, who won the Hollywood Prevue.WarBiscuit wrote: ↑Sun Jul 23, 2023 12:42 pmWe've been talking about Strong Odor for a couple of years on here.
