Another one with a coronavirus-related name runs in today's fifth at Carlisle(UK): Lockdown Lass.

Nobals just won the Arlington-Washington Futurity. Of course, he’s a gelding.

I find it more amusing than horrible - considering the sire and dam. :)

Found this ad while going through a 1951 California Thoroughbred journal. Apparently he had a "horrible name" considering the cold-war era :)

I hate how "Stilleto Boy" is misspelled.

Wish him luck though!

How did Russia II end up in the USA?

In a later issue is an article about stallion importations, with a tiny blurb about Russia II: "*Russia II was imported by D. J. Davis in 1949. This stallion made a big name for himself as a racer in Australia, and bids fair to make good in the Oak Dell Farm stud at Cupertino." That's the most that I've been able to find.

That magazine used to have terrible photos although I wasn't aware of it until 20 years later. I will admit with shame that when I discovered that the University Research Library at a university I will not name had bound copies of what I think was the same journal, I razored out the photo illustration for the 1967 article on Native Diver's death--a conformation photo. I still have it. As well as my diploma!
I ran marathons. I saw the Taj Mahal by Moonlight. I drove Highway 1 in a convertible. I petted Zenyatta.

Someone tell me how this name got past the Jockey Club...Did they have any idea what this means ? 😱 I did see the hashtag on a couple of tweets regarding Biden, but it was just two...it hardly trended back in 2019. Maybe I just have a dirty mind, lol

He’s running tomorrow at SA

Langs Day g. New Year's Day x Langsyne

The best they could do for a horse with that parent name combination.

Boppy a 2020 filly by Blame out of Daring dancer owned by my racehorse. Yes many people hate the name and a few said it reminds them of the breast feeding pillow, and my racehorse usually picks some really great names too(like Authentic, Forbidden kingdom,Chasing Time)

There is also a Boppy O a 2020 colt by Bolt d'Oro out of Pappascat. I found that name while looking up names for Bolt d'Oro offspring.

I’d have loved Hogmanay, which is Scotland’s New Year and an insane celebration ...

Not sure if she's been mentioned, but...

Drohsky was the dam of the great South African runner Lenin (foaled 1937), who belied his name in every way possible. I guess 'Genocide', 'Conscience-Free', 'Thieving Liar' and 'Hard-Eyed Murderer' were already taken.

Uncle Mo remains an undignified name for a racehorse, to me. I just don't like it.

Rootentootenwooten is the silliest name I've ever come across. A good runner though--won the 1989 Demoiselle.

As much as I still love Alysheba, I always thought the name was a little... unimaginative. ;)

I don't think it's a horrible name, but may have been more interesting if he had been sired by Mobil, a decent regional stallion in Ohio. :)
