Down Royal is retired now, idk if she's been bred or if they're giving her the year off.
Very interested to see who they breed DR too, and also TMQ when she's retired.

Southwind Amazon returned to the fair ranks today at Mountpelier to get an easy win in a short field for #130. Didn't even break a sweat, looked like he wanted to go around again.

Tom Durkin is about to call a race at the Delaware County Fair (Little Brown Jug meet) - forgot he did the Hambletonian for many years.

Live feed for today's races (it's race 2 of 16 today) https://www.facebook.com/OhioHarnessHor ... 8288901068

In other Delaware fair news: a trotting stallion by the name of Lane of Stone, who breeds and races, won a race yesterday for older horses. His daughter Flip Five Stones won a 2yo filly stake on the same card, and now today son A Line of Stone wins a 2yo colt stake. All 3 have the same trainer and driver. Nice advertising for the stallion :D

Does anyone know anything about the Lincoln County Fair harness racing in Tennessee? It's not that far from me and if it's good I might go next year for my birthday. I can't this week and I just found out about it.

Smaller fair, just a couple sire stakes since there aren't enough TN-breds for a full slate. Looks like the race conditions for older horses are set fairly broad to make up the fields. Fair racing is always good though. The most fun I've ever had in a day of racing was at the Shenandoah County Fair. Check out the fair stuff in the morning, eat various fried things and watch the racing in the afternoon.

I used to love going to the LA County Fair with my mom when I was a kid. At that time IIRC they would have a couple of harness races, a couple of QH races, and the rest TBs. We'd always wind up just before we left at the pigeons, rabbits, & fowl building--I don't know why! You could walk freely through the barns too at least in the 1960's, and one year we met a trainer--I think his name was Earl Mitchell--and he showed us some of his horses--SW Jay Fox, a son of Nasrullah (I think) named Controlling, and a cold named One Bold Bid who'd sold for $170,000--an amazing price at the time.
I ran marathons. I saw the Taj Mahal by Moonlight. I drove Highway 1 in a convertible. I petted Zenyatta.

A Blame colt named One Bold Bid sold last year at Keeneland for less than that

Tomorrow is Little Brown Jug day! 25 races - yes, 25 - starting at 11am and going till 6-something. Both Jug heats will be shown on FS2 but there's good stuff all over the card. All the races will be broadcast on the OHHA facebook page https://www.facebook.com/OhioHarnessHor ... sociation/

Of note:
-Dunkin in race 3 (Ohio-bred 3yo CG pace 1st division), who is 19-for-37 this year. Won on Monday and coming back for more. Standardbreds are built different.
-b]Stumpy[/b] in race 7 (Ohio-bred 3yo CG trot 2nd division), there is nothing special about him, he's been winless all year. but I love his name.
-Dance in Style (Ohio-bred 2yo CG pace 1st division) looking for his 9th consecutive win in the span of 2 months. Raced on Tuesday as well.
-Southwind Amazon in race 12 (Signature Series pace final), a fairly evenly matched field. Great to see him on a big stage again.
-Lots of nice colts in the LBJ but the 3rd elim has the big matchup of Cannibal vs It's My Show.

Ucandoit Bluechip won both her elim and final of the Jugette (best worse race name ever) today. She won first heat in 1:50.3, came back about 90 minutes later and went 1:50.2.

Another stallion who breeds and races, Muscles for Life, won the Amateur Drivers championship race for trotters on LBJ day. He's got a light schedule of about a dozen starts each year and is now 45-for-134 lifetime at age 10.

Southwind Amazon who usually goes to the front the whole way around was set back in 4th but made a strong move in the stretch and just missed by a neck to J K's Champ who won the Signature Series final in a race record 1:52.1. Amazon's best race all year IMO even if it ended in defeat.

by god I am going to turn all of you into harness racing fans or die trying

Little Brown Jug elims about to begin...broadcast is on FS2/youtube as well as the OHHA facebook https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CfgFCCx8r8Y Take a break from not watching Thoroughbreds because they're all standing in their stalls instead of racing and watch some Standardbreds race twice in one afternoon instead
