Mystic Strike wins the Virginia Gold Cup in a thrilling battle with last year's winner Andi'amu. Mystic Strike is 14, Andi'amu is 13, both ran their hearts out for 4 miles. Love timber racing!

I tried clicking on the link above, but I get a window saying the feed is 'offline.'
Nevermind...I had clicked on the wrong feed. Now have the correct window open and will be able to watch. Thanks.
Good luck to Snap, who looks so good he has just won the 'best turned out' award today.

The #7 chestnut is really rank.
Snap is collared by the Irish horse Scarmanga (sp?) in the stretch, and finished 2nd.

Scaramanga had a well-timed ride, Snap was too far forward early and had nothing left after 3 miles. We know Snap will be put away for the summer to keep him fresh for Far Hills (as Jack Fisher was none too pleased his efforts got passed over for Hewick's single race in the Eclipse voting) but hopefully Scaramanga will run at Saratoga.

I found it rather interesting.
I know USTA's view of HISA may be biased, but the questions raised in that letter are ones that I would want to have answered.

He has at least a thousand, probably closer to 2000. AI plus a small number of breeders makes it easy for one stallion to dominate the market (see also the French trotter Love You).brunanas wrote: ↑Wed May 17, 2023 8:45 amhow many foals does Burning Sand have? i almost always see him in pedigrees. and also is there an age limit for arabians to race?tranquilo wrote: ↑Tue May 16, 2023 11:57 pm The field for this year's UAE President Cup (G1) on Preakness day, the richest race for Arabians in the US:

No age limit for Arabians but Pimlico and Laurel have an arbitrary age limit of 10 or younger for any horse to race at their tracks. 11yo Paddy's Day was barred from this race in 2022 having won it in 2020 and 2021 because of that stupid rule.
e: I was way off on Burning Sand's foals lol, it's still a lot in proportion to the population of racing Arabians.

Quick Sand is a 10yo horse, so I would guess that he has already sired a few foal crops. If he is a talented racing son of Burning Sand, his connections may be hoping he is a quality heir to his esteemed sire.

Not one of Imbriale's better calls but Diamond Gem gets a nice win.

Southwind Amazon took a trip over to Northville Downs (where he still holds the track record) yesterday, slightly easier company than Northfield, and won an OPEN handicap by 4+ lengths for career victory #127.

He's one away from tying the great Rambling Willy for second-most wins by a Standardbred.
