Very cool. Do the kids ride a specific breed of pony? The mounts in that video look like good-sized Welsh Ponies.

I’m not sure about Australia but here in the UK, the ponies are classed by height. There are classes for the 128cm (12.2hh), 138cm (13.2hh) and 148cm (14.2hh), with ponies between those heights being allowed into the most suitable category. There is no breed restrictions but I think quite a few in the 148s are small Thoroughbreds or crosses.

It’s a very competitive circuit these days!

The race was obviously written for him since he's only eligible from a start back in 2017 lol

Standardbred warhorse Southwind Amazon earned win #125 of his career last night at Northfield in a NW5000L4. Much easier company than the opens he'd been stuck in the last couple months but his time of 1:51:1 is his best of the year.

I just saw the article on TDN and came here. Its disgusting, how did they think they would get away with racing a horse that is starving??? The owner and trainer should have their licenses revoked forever and not be allowed to be associated with any animals again. And sorry Sunland shouldn't be allowed to run races if they don't have vets to do pre-race exams.
“The NMRC then called the New Mexico Livestock Board when the stable gate security told us that the horse left the grounds quickly with the owner of the horse hauling it,” Trejo said via email.
I don't understand they let the horse leave the grounds or then how Texas let the horse stay with the owner. Clearly they are not taking care of her. I bet during the week they have to take her to a vet she "disappears".

and i bet that she'll appear in a feed lot. fucking disgusting. if they do this kind of shit where she can be seen, imagine what state she would be in if she wasn't on a racetrack.

Oju Chosan may be retired, but his pony counterpart Koju Chosan has been going viral in Japan! Oju's jockey and groom even came over to meet the little guy! :D

In the replay the announcer said everyone was okay. Seems that harness track fatalities are rare.

Meadowlands canceled tonight cause the drivers refused to drive. I don't blame them it's storming out badly

Snap Decision won the G2 Temple Gwathmey easily over Redicean and Belfast Banter. Andi'amu won the Middleburg Hunt Cup and Monbeg Stream won the Maryland Grand National.

Notably at both Middleburg and Grand National the ground started out firm/hard then turned to soft/good in the span of about 15 minutes as the skies opened up. There was a thunderstorm delay between the 2nd and 3rd races at Middleburg. Good job by the course officials in maintaining safe ground throughout.

I read somewhere that the Middleburg races were to be televised on America’s Best Racing, but sadly this didn’t seem to happen. I saw Andi’amu win last fall at the Genesee County Hunt Races and am glad to hear he won again. He has really come back strong last year and this year after a 2 year absence due to injury.

There was a livestreamed "watch party", not televised. You may be confusing America's Day at the Races (the FS1/NYRA collaboration) with America's Best Racing which is just a promotional thing. Replay of the watch party is here https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=ooNLkWkaAxE but the actual races were livestreamed on the NSA website https://nationalsteeplechase.com/

Hewick fell 2 fences from the finish but got up soon after, hopefully the only thing he hurt was his pride.
He is no worse for wear after his fall:

I don’t think he wouldve won, but it’s a shame he fell, I thought he’d hit the board.
Hewick is back to his best, winning the Bet365 Oaksey Chase at Sandown. Lovely video of Paddy Hanlon, trainer Shark Hanlon’s son, reacting to the win. Love this horse and the connections, hopefully they have lots more of these big days

Southwind Amazon got win #126 tonight. He's now in a tie for 3rd-most victories all-time for a Standardbred.
