Saturday at Parx the Smarty Jones (gr. III) is headlined by graded winners Flameaway and Axelrod. But keep an eye on the Servis-trained First Mondays, who is 2-for-2 to start his belated career. He is by Curlin and out of a half-sister to Dubai World Cup hero Well Armed, grade III winner Witty and grade I-placed Helsinki.

Starine wrote: As for Victoria -- wow, that is exciting. Wouldn't it be something if War Emblem left a strong legacy through his best daughter? What is Black Emblem's produce record to date?
Black Emblem has been an excellent producer, Starine.
She has already produced 5 JRA winners (from 6 foals of racing age) including a G3 winner and a listed winner / G3 placed.

Black Emblem's breeding record:

2011: h. Testament(JPN) (Deep Impact) 26-3-2-2
2012: h. Bright Emblem(JPN) (Neo Universe) G3 winner & G2 placed 13-2-1-0
2013: g. Astra Emblem(JPN) (Daiwa Major) Listed winner & G3 placed 17-5-5-1
2014: m. Aurola Emblem(JPN) (Deep Impact) 8-M-1-2
2015: f. Maroon Emblem(JPN) (Orfevre) 3-1-1-0
2016: f. Victoria(JPN) (Victoire Pisa) 1-1-0-0
2017: f. unnamed(JPN) (Deep Impact)
2018: slipped foal (Black Tide)

Victoria(JPN) was ridden today by Yasunari Iwata who had guided her dam Black Emblem to the G1 Shuka Sho victory 10 years ago.
Like her dam, the 2yo filly is trained by Shigeyuki Kojima.
Maroon Emblem(JPN), 2015F. Orfevre(JPN) x Black Emblem(JPN) by War Emblem(USA), won her seoncd race today under Japanese new all-time leading female jockey Nanako Fujita at Niigata 6R 2000m turf allowance impressively. :D
She is a tyny filly who weighs only 382 kilograms.
But she has the acceleration and the stamina.
Her trainer Shigeyuki Kojima commented, ''Our dream is to make her a QE2 winner in years to come.''

In the 5th race at Saratoga today, a 6-furlong MSW for 2yo fillies on the dirt, Enliven (Ghostzapper x It's Tricky) is a half to the nice 3yo colt Enticed. I think Enliven may be the last foal of the late It's Tricky?
ETA: Enliven was 4th after flattening in the stretch. Into the South (Into Mischief) won.

Dang, that's a heck of a pedigree. Further, Diamond Necklace is by UBS, who is, in my mind, the best-or-close-to-it broodmare sire.
