And his fourth dam is Urban Sea. He’s inbred to her 3Sx4D.

What a great mare she was! She really should be honoured in some way, maybe a statue at Epsom or a race named after her.

Only six Epsom Classic entrants of 2018 not descended from Urban Sea
What more does Urban Sea have to do to have a major race named in her honour in Britain or Ireland, or have a statue erected at one of the homes of the Classics so she can keep watch over the winner's enclosure that her descendants have so often graced?

The question comes to mind again looking at the fields for this week's Investec-sponsored Oaks and Derby. Of the 21 horses declared for the two races, 15 feature Urban Sea in their pedigree – six of the nine in the fillies' Classic on Friday and nine of the 12 colts in the following day's contest.

Such domination by one mare who won the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe only 25 years ago and who would produce 11 foals in her breeding career is quite simply extraordinary.

What a beautiful pedigree!!
Masar was impeccably bred to win the Derby, while Saxon Warrior could be a miler.

I'm not quite ready to write Saxon Warrior off as a miler. He didn't have a clean trip and the ground may have been softer than he prefers. I would think he gets decent stamina from both his sire, Deep Impact, and his damsire, Galileo...although I do suspect that O'Brien will skip the St. Leger with him. ;)

I can't imagine any of the connections can complain about the ground, it was good ground today so it gave very little room for excuses IMO.

Masar was hyped up before the BC Juv Turf, glad he's returned on the upswing!

And Urban Sea is one of my favourites. May or may not have her as my username elsewhere :D
Disappointing to hear about Saxon Warrior though.

Solace(JPN), 2015F. Orfevre(JPN) x Laragh(USA) by Tapit(USA), scored her second career victory in the Kinosaki Tokubetsu (allowance) 2000m turf at Hanshin on June 3rd 2018.
She still looks green and handful, but we may see her join in the graded company in Autumn.

2yo Race at the Curragh today, R1 has some nicely bred colts: Cape of Good Hope is a full to Highland Reel and Idaho; Zander is an Oasis Dream colt out of a half to Famous Name; and Whitsunday Islands is by Australia out of a half to Treve.

That piqued my interest, so I checked Results on RacingPost.
The race was won by Copia Verborum (Vocalised {USA}), Zander was 3rd, Cape Of Good Hope was 4th and Whitsunday Islands was 8th in the nine-horse maiden.
