Obsession (#1; white cap; Lemaire)
Ramses Barows (#3; red cap; Demuro)

The winner, walking & running with his tongue out, is trained by K. Fujisawa. Lemaire: 'A good response to my urge at the final corner. Probably better on better ground, with distance more than 2000m.'

pedigree:
http://www.jbis.jp/horse/0001208195/?_g ... 1507817674

Obsession (2yo c, Deep Impact x Persistently(USA)) won CYCLAMEN Sho (Hanshin 9R, 1800m turf).
https://youtu.be/AYgn11DyMbs2
Obsession (#5; yellow cap; Lemaire)

race sectionals (1800m):
12.6-10.9-11.4-12.0-12.2-12.0-11.3-11.4-11.8 = 105.6
(Obsession's 3F: 33.5)

sectionals in Challenge Cup, 2000m G3 for 3yos&up in Hanshin 11R
12.7-11.4-12.4-12.0-11.4-11.9-11.6-11.4-11.7-12.1 =118.6
(winner's 3F: 34.9)

The winning time, 1:45.6, is the record for 2yo 1800m in the JRA; the previous one was 1:45.9 by Isla Bonita (Fuji Kiseki x Isla Cozzene) in a G3 at Tokyo 1800m in 2013.

'An easy win. Being off the pace with his big strides, it takes some time for his engine to be warmed up and running, and yet it is a powerful one, for sure.' (Lemaire)

The lack of agility might cost him a race or two in the future; nevertheless, he may turn out to be a strong contender for the 2018 Tokyo Yushun, or JPN Derby.

It looks like the brothers resemble each other quite a bit, also.

It appears like Obsession is the real deal.

In other news, Frosted's little sister Indulgent scored her first graded win in the Go For Wand (gr. III).

Here is the weanling (soon to be yearling) 3/4 brother to California Chrome. He's by Tapit out of Love the Chase. Carries his head high like Chrome. He has a growing colt's awkwardness, but has a bright expression, a great shoulder, big butt and good bone. This and a few other pictures of him were taken Dec. 1 and are posted on the Taylor Made Stallions Twitter page: https://twitter.com/tmstallions?lang=en

Silent Sting (Silent Name), a 1/2 brother to G1W Celestine, won the Kingarvie S. today at Woodbine. The top 3 finishers in the race were all sons of Silent Name.

Holland Park (Tapit/Round Pond '15) finished 2nd today at AQU in his debut. Not shockingly, he is the mare's first grey offspring (her first mating with a grey stallion).

The DRF had an article on some of the juvenile fillies running in the last race at Los Al on Friday, including:

Cowboytakemeaway - by Street Cry out of grade I winner and half-sister to Always Dreaming Hot Dixie Chick.

Raising Aida - granddaughter of My Flag by Speightstown

Dang it, brutal trip, for a split second I thought she might go down, she checked so badly...

Madame Milan finished 3rd beaten by 3 3/4 lengths, on December 16, 2017, at TAMPA BAY DOWNS in Race 8.
Off odds: .80

On Leave won the My Charmer (gr. IIIT) over the weekend at Gulfstream. By War Front out of one of my favorite broodmares, the exceptional Meghan's Joy (making her a half-sister to stakes winners Ironicus, Norumbega, Quiet Harbor, Hunting and Seal Cove).
