Discretionary Marq (Discreet Cat x To Marquet/Marquetry), the full brother to the fine turf mare Discreet Marq, just finished 2nd in the 1st at Saratoga, a 5 1/2-furlong MSW on the turf. He may like a bit more distance next out.

Stumbled badly at the start in the Sorority S.:

Jehozacat finished 4th beaten by 12 lengths, on September 2, 2017, at MONMOUTH PARK in Race 8.
Off odds: 1.10

I was surprised Nik Juarez managed to stay on. Couldn't blame her for being flat after that. Assuming she comes out okay, I still hope they try another stake.

Bob Baffert says the FrontRunner (G1) at Santa Anita is likely next for St Patrick's Day.

I thought it was pretty good. He broke well, ran with the pace setters, put those away and then held off Instilled Regard, a $1,050,000 Arch colt. That one is trained by Hollendorfer, ridden by Mike Smith and I think he was wearing Fox Hill Farm silks. Maybe IR will be a future star for Mr. Porter.

A surprisingly regal pedigree showed up at Suffolk today... Ventura Highway (Street Cry x Music Note) didn't turn any heads in the paddock, but he ran a pretty good third in a starter optional claiming.

I'm looking forward to seeing how St. Patrick's Day runs when he doesn't have the inside draw. He was used a lot early and was then pressed from outside. Not the best trip for a youngster.
I ran marathons. I saw the Taj Mahal by Moonlight. I drove Highway 1 in a convertible. I petted Zenyatta.

Checking in 11th in that race was Taniko (1/2 to Tepin, et. al.).

IMHO, Victor's ride on Coz didn't do the horse any favors. Coz wanted to run (always good to see), but he was blocked behind horses for much of the stretch. I think that big boy needs to stay in the clear so he can sustain his run.

The field was pretty bunched so I'll give Victor a pass. He'd have had to put him 8-wide to keep him clear. It's too bad that Del Mar doesn't card 11f MSW races or Santa Anita doesn't card a like race at 10f. He seems like a galloper that might do some good at those distances.

Never going to happen, but it would be interesting to see how any of Zenyatta's progeny would do in England or Ireland, where longer distance maiden races aren't so difficult to come by. Imagine one of her foals going to Mark Johnston - we'd be seeing them race 2-3 times a month!
