Many racing fans in Japan have been deeply impressed not only by the winner Equinox but also by the runner-up Panthalassa today, as the latter reminded us of the legendary Silence Suzuka (Sunday Silence).
Panthalassa went first 1000m in 57.4, exactly the same sectional time Silence Suzuka had marked in that tragic Tenno Sho Autumn in 1998, and came home safe.
Pas.tm(1/10s.)
12.6 - 23.5 - 34.7 - 46.0 - 57.4 - 69.0 - 80.8 - 92.4 - 104.8 - 117.5
Lap tm(1/10s.)
12.6 - 10.9 - 11.2 - 11.3 - 11.4 - 11.6 - 11.8 - 11.6 - 12.4 - 12.7
The son of Lord Kanaloa will be pointed to the Hong Kong Cup in December.

I'm a little bit into the future ... but I really hope we see some Contrail's mares go to Flightline or Flightline's mares going to Contrail. Those babies are gonna be flying

Alpinista will miss the Japan Cup after suffering a setback and has been retired to stud after all.tachyon wrote: ↑Wed Nov 09, 2022 8:42 am It sounds like Alpinista will run in the Japan Cup.

This looks like an exciting race, and one I will be watching.
Will also take note of the Dirt Routes today as well. Watch these in case any invaders come over here.
R6 1-1/8 on Dirt
R7 1-1/4 Dirt
R1 was 1-1/8 on Dirt. Came in 5-7-3
1st Jasper Barows(JPN) Shane Foley/Shimizu, Hisashi
2nd Isaias (favorite 1/1) Lemaire/Yoshimora
3rd Shonan Akidon Fukunaga/Takano
For the QE2 (1-3/8 on Turf) I like these horses, no order but not using the top favorites for the win spot. Not wagering but I liked these
11 (Namur)
15 (Lilac)
18 (Geraldina)
8 (Andvaranaut)
Longshots:
9 (longshot) Win Kitos
14 (longshot) Akai Ito
Trying to get more into foreign racing, most fun time I've had all year was capping the Melbourne Cup with a friend. We went in on exacta becuase it's really hard to get a tri in a field of 22, esp with the high level of runners in this one. I think we worked on it for 2.5 days, on the phone.....played a few exactas and it paid over $600. So paid off our work. Hard to get that kind of $$ in U.S. races for an exacta. The Melbourne Cup was an absolutely fantastic field of 22 horses. I bypassed capping the BC races to concentrate on it instead.

I never listen to the talking heads, they kept saying how Lilac was out of condition blah blah blah but I liked her. And it helped move her up from 40-1 to 79-1 odds for me. Ditto, they were getting off geraldina as she was jumping all over the place, moved her odds from 8-1 to 9-1. It was a dead heat for 2nd but my horse paid more.
Geraldina won.
18 $20.20 $9.80 $8.10
15 . $31.90 $39.70
$1.00 Exacta 18/15 $207.10
My 14 longshot ran 4th @40-1.

This result makes me very happy: I was a fan of her dam, Gentildonna, who was a wonderful race mare. Geraldina reminds me of her.
