All came home safe and sound today :D Moscato fell but was up and caught by the lead pony (before he could run into the woods) and led off. Hopefully the success of the Irish will encourage even more participation from overseas trainers, and perhaps they'll stay awhile longer :)

Not sure I could see this happening anywhere except with a Jumps trainer in Ireland

Do you know who the horse is, and why he deserved an in-person Guiness? I couldn't understand much of what was said.

That there is Hewick, winner of the American Grand National hurdle at Fair Hills a few weeks ago, being feted upon his return to Ireland. Hewick has garnered a cult following due to his humble origins (bought for 810 euros) and larger-than-life trainer.

actual greatest racehorse in the country Bulldog Hanover update: they couldn't get shipping in order for the Potomac Pace this week so he's out of that but they're still looking to give him a tightener before the TVG pace. https://www.standardbredcanada.ca/news/ ... nover.html

Southwind Amazon update: he's had like 3 or 4 races since my last update lol, but no wins. He was a fast-closing second by a neck last night at Northville. He's at that point where he's not quite fast enough to win the opens but he breezes right past all the condition races.

And to clarify the last post about Bulldog Hanover, he'll be staying at the Meadowlands and pacing in a qualifier between now and Nov 26th. So if you want to see him you gotta go to New Jersey.

In a Bulldog-less Potomac Pace on Thursday night Allywag Hanover broke the world record for a 5/8 mile track, pacing in 1:46.4. He's sharp as nails right now, will make for an extraordinary TVG Final.

Allywag is a gelding, incidentally, so he'll stick around long after Bulldog Hanover retires.

Breeder, Hanover Shoe Farms in Pennsylvania.

https://www.hanoverpa.com/

There’s hundreds, probably thousands, of Hanovers out there.

They produce around 200 foals every season, any given night at any harness track in the US you'll see at least a handful of Hanovers.

Quite the rivalry! I wonder when Bulldog’s qualifier will be?

Ok I forgot there was a weird thing where Allywag Hanover's owners messed up in staking him this season (Standardbred stakes eligibility is weird and I don't entirely understand it) so he's ineligible for several races including the TVG Final. :( So the Potomac Pace was his last race of the season.

Bulldog will likely qualify 14 days prior to his next race, which would be tomorrow (November 12) for the TVG Final on November 26.

Sorry to hear they cannot have a match up when both at their best. I wish TVG or someone/ thing could help make this happen.

Cross Border made his hurdle debut today at Charleston. He was pulled up at the seventh fence and was walked off but appears to be fine.

This morning Bulldog Hanover qualified at Mohawk. Easy 1:52 in the cold with the wind blowing towards him down the stretch

Sounds like he'll be back there in December for a retirement ceremony, that's one thing harness racing is much better at than Thoroughbred racing. Atlanta's retirement ceremony will be held on TVG night following her race.

Entries are out for the TVG Finals + Fall Final Freshman Four races that will probably decide year-end honors on Saturday at the Meadowlands.
https://playmeadowlands.com/racing/race ... n/entries/
First post at 6:20pm ET, first stakes race at 7:35, Bulldog Hanover's race is set for 10:05pm (they refrained from putting it at the end of the card so it's at a halfway-decent time!). No Allywag Hanover due to aforementioned staking issue; no Bythemissal due to Meadowlands' Stallion Restriction Condition* making him ineligible to race in most of the point-earning races for the TVG Final**; no Pebble Beach or Beach Glass because their owners are wimps. Really only a couple big 3yos are competing against elders this year, kinda disappointing. Still, Tattoo Artist and Lou's Pearlman are in top form and Bulldog should put on a good show by himself.

Both Atlanta and Bulldog Hanover will have retirement ceremonies following their respective races (Bulldog will probably get another farewell at Mohawk when he returns to Ontario) and there are mug giveaways for both of them.

Beach Glass and Pebble Beach are facing off in the Progress Pace at Dover this evening, post time 8:10pm. Each of them won their eliminations last week. No idea why they avoid 3yos running against elders so much in harness racing.

Perhaps the younger harness horses break out of their gait more often than more experienced older pacers/trotters?
