A few notables in R1 at GP today, none of which looked particularly impressive:
H Town Brown (1/2 to D' Funnybone) finished 2nd and looked the best of the bunch after getting blocked behind some horses on the turn.
Rompin Reid (Medaglia d'Oro x Runway Model), who was making his debut, was 6th.
Hollywood Idol (Smart Strike x Hollywood Story) was a lackluster 7th in his debut.
Empower (Distorted Humor x Magnificience), also making his debut, was 9th and last. Never a factor.

Zensational has been doing pretty well as a sire...I don't have figures, but I know I've seen several winners by him this fall. Unbridled's Song left us too soon, but it would appear that his sons are carrying on pretty well. Hate that Rockport Harbor died this year. From DRF Breeding: Dunkirk+Rockport Harbor MT @TMStallions Not since Nasrullah (1967) has one sire had 2 diff. sons top freshman+juv sire lists

This is the one Baffert called the "perfect thoroughbred" before even born. Guess that is his Empire Maker.mariasmon wrote:I'd expect Indian Smoke (Zensational x Indian Blessing) to show up in the entries for Santa Anita fairly early on, based on his works.

Unknown Road (1/2 to Banshee Breeze) ran well today to win a MSW at FG in his 2nd start.

Guts and Glory (full to Kensei, 1/2 to Lookin at Lucky) was 2nd today at TB in a MSW.
He's a Cyclone (Awesome Again x My Typhoon (IRE)) was a dismal 13th and last in an AOC at GP.

Shakin it Up, who won Thursday's G1 Malibu S., is o/o Silverbulletday's daughter, Silver Bullet Moon. So, even though none of Silverbulletday's offspring have run much, 2 of her daughters have now produced GSW. Silverbulletway (Storm Cat) had Govenor Charlie (Midnight Lute), who won the G3 Sunland Derby this year. She also had Crisis of Spirit (Vindication), a listed SW, who herself has a coming 2YO colt by Midnight Lute. Now Silver Bullet Moon (Vindication) has Shakin It Up, who also won the San Vicente earlier this year..
