wowwwwwwwwwwwwww japan could TASTE that one!!! i don't think forever young would've won necessarily - one day they will learn not to let them sneak up the rail but today was not that day LOL - but yeah there was a bunch of contact, a possible case for swapping 2/3? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
so happy for kenny mcpeek though!!! and hernandez as well
okay now my heart can settle down so i can watch leafs/bruins game 7...
Yeah there should have absolutely been an inquiry. I guess the stewards figured it would hold things up and wouldn't matter if it didn't involve the winner... but that really shouldn't matter. Mystik Dan saved them from a really tough choice, though.
I'm not even sure if it's physically possible for Sierra Leone to run straight in the stretch. He paddles soooo badly in the front... real shame for Forever Young, who ran his heart out and is a very serious horse.
I wonder if Kenny McPeek still wants to run Thorpedo Anna in the Preakness? What a story that would be!
I had to laugh! For the last week, all over the place, people were warning that if the track comes up wet or sloppy, be sure to include Mystic Dan in your wagers. But you always got the feeling that you were also being told that you should just toss him if the track was good or fast.
Amazing how we manage to outsmart ourselves in this game, isn't it?
I have never read that Tyler is a dirty rider, so I have to wonder if he stuck his hand out to try to push his horse AWAY from Forever Young. You can see how he is pulling hard on that right rein.
I bet on the top 3 finishers but I did win bets instead of boxing them Oh well, Mystik Dan won me almost $200 so I can’t complain! Great weekend for Mcpeek and Brian Hernandez!
i am not a fan of tyler G - i have seen him give more than a few questionable rides to horses - i still think he had a role in that derby fiasco years ago with maximum security (trying to go into a hole that wasn't there) -- so frankly, i have no sympathy for him in this derby - he knows his horse has a habit of coming over in races - watching the race today a couple of times, i think tyler was impeding the jock on FY too. i don't care how good SL is, you still need to run a professional race and not bother other horses. all in all, i am very glad SL, tyler and cad brown didn't win the thing. but they should have been dq'd from second place - and yes, shame on those stewards for not looking into SL and the bumping. that is just shameful.
Chad needs to work with SL on not always having to go 8 wide wide in every race( needs to learn to come in between horses) not lugging in. I am not sure he even saw Dan on the rail
