The greatest sire of all time? After only a few crops? Justify is fantastic, but he has to do a hell of a lot more over a very long period of time before he’s even considered to be in the same breath as legendary sires

I would also include others like Slew, Indy, Bold Ruler, Galileo, etc.. (all before IM)Izvestia wrote: ↑Fri Aug 23, 2024 8:21 am As an example of current stallions - Gun Runner has 4 less offspring (seriously and he’s been at stud one year longer) - has higher win percentage, black type win percentage, avg earnings per starter, AEI… etc.
Coolmore hype machine has been touting him as the greatest.
Northern Dancer, Mr Prospector, even Storm Cat, Tapit and Into Mischief, say “are you sure?”.

I said “rise of”, he’s still young and look at all he’s accomplished so far, he has some of the best book of mares so unless he bombs hard I can definitely see his star continue to ascend.Slewfan2 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 23, 2024 8:25 amI would also include others like Slew, Indy, Bold Ruler, Galileo, etc.. We can’t make a final judgement until his final crop ofc, but I think he has every opportunity to be a breed shaping sire

Aidan O’Brien will be flying over City of Troy, 5 or 6 running mates, and a set of an American style starting stalls (with a bell) to Southwell on September 20 for a public workout of City of Troy

Southwell? Is that a racetrack? Does it have a dirt or synthetic surface?

It has both an all weather and National Hunt course.
Tapeta was installed in 2021. It was all weather before that though and O'Brien used works at Southwell to prep Galileo and Giant's Causeway before they ran in the BC Classic.

British racetrack. It used to have Fibresand footing, which I had read was as close as you could get to dirt in the UK. Now that it has Tapeta, I'm not sure if it poses a huge advantage compared to, say, going to a more local track like Dundalk (where they have Polytrack). But I guess the whole trip and experience will at least help prepare the horse, mentally at least.

Dundalk has races the day that they want to work him. Southwell just sporadically has dates and is free. So maybe that is why? Or maybe it has something to do with the configuration but they both look similar to me from the layouts on a site I looked at.Northport wrote: ↑Fri Aug 30, 2024 8:16 pm British racetrack. He's had all kinds of setbacks this year. Hopefully things will turn around for him in 2025.Flanders wrote: ↑Mon Sep 02, 2024 10:06 am White Birch is done for the year after suffering an minor injury.

After Luke Comer Snr lost his appeal earlier this year and had his 3 year ban upheld, his son, Luke Comer Jnr, took over his stable. However, Jnr was a restricted license holder, meaning he can only train 4 horses.Flanders wrote: ↑Thu Sep 14, 2023 10:24 pmYes its a lot of money but to a billionaire its probably like $75...
Doesnt matter anyway, as Luke Comer Jnr has now received a 1 year ban after the remains of 9 horses were found on one of his properties. Not the licensed facility where he trained out of, but still his responsibility.

These have got to be some of the sloppiest billionaires we have. I fear for the remaining horses they do have "in training" with no one actually licensed to enter them in races. They all finish up the track when a Comer trained them anyway, but these guys clearly don't care about their animals, especially when they cant race anymore.

Should be upgraded to jail time, permanent ban and not allowed to own or be near animals.Northport wrote: ↑Mon Sep 02, 2024 7:44 pmAfter Luke Comer Snr lost his appeal earlier this year and had his 3 year ban upheld, his son, Luke Comer Jnr, took over his stable. I wish the article said WHY they allowed the race to go or someone didn't do something before the horses got to the CAR PARKED ON THE COURSE. Thankfully no one was injured and were able to avoid it.

He's a good horse. I was looking at his female family and noticed he is related to another old favorite of mine, Running Stag, who was a grade II winner on dirt and runner-up in the Hong Kong Cup.tachyon wrote: ↑Tue Sep 03, 2024 7:54 am Fantastic Moon(GER) takes the Grosser Preis von Baden in style on Sep 1st.

Nice-looking winner who we may see in the BC Mile. He beat a very decent field.

Idk if he was only a pacemaker. I’m sure Andre Fabre is a nice man, but I don’t know if he would enter a 5 time group 2/3 winner in a race just to help out Charlie Appleby. Godolphin usually leaves the team tactics to Ballydoyle, especially when it comes to entries from different trainers.
