He told me; "If my horse has given you a bit of joy during the last few months, then I'm already proud of what I've done". I bawled like a baby.Squeaky wrote: ↑Sat May 04, 2024 6:12 pmWhat a beautiful post and experience. I feel the same- even a top 5 finish would be great.stelladaniella wrote: ↑Sat May 04, 2024 6:03 pm We met Larry Demeritte today with my mom. He gave us some West Saratoga items, I will cherish them forever. He recognised my cancer ribbon I wear always. He told me he knows cancer very well too. We had a little chat that ended up with me crying because of how down-to-earth and kind this man is. If there is a greater power, let this man have a Derby win. I cannot think of anyone more deserving.
Lets go!!!

What an amazing encounter, I'm so happy you got to experience it and thank you for sharing it. West Saratoga was my longshot to begin with (it would be fitting if a grandson of Curlin's won for a 3rd year in a row) but now it's personal in the best of ways!stelladaniella wrote: ↑Sat May 04, 2024 6:25 pmHe told me; "If my horse has given you a bit of joy during the last few months, then I'm already proud of what I've done". West Saratoga is about to go off at 22/1 off of a 50/1 morning line! Is there some kind of serendipity going on here?Calypso wrote: ↑Sat May 04, 2024 6:36 pmWhat an amazing encounter, I'm so happy you got to experience it and thank you for sharing it. I need a replay so I can actually watch the race Seemed like the pace wasn't very fast but didn't really hold up? Mystik Dan got a great ride? Looking forward to digging into the trips.
Bummed for Fierceness, but glad everyone came home safe.
