IMO, Cartier HOTY and 3yo colt should go to Auguste Rodin. I know there will be votes for Arc winner Ace Impact, but isn't Auguste's race record better? And he shipped all the way to California to take the BC Turf against a stellar field.

Auguste Rodin finished up the track in the King George and 2000 Guineas, while Ace Impact was undefeated and won Europe’s most important race, the Arc. Wasn't the ground for the King George very soft? If so, the going may have been a reason for the colt's placing.

No, it was good to soft. He was beaten 126 lengths (he was pretty much eased). The Cartier Awards are 40% point based as well, so they aren’t as subjective as other awards. I saw a recent article with the rankings last week, though of course I can’t find it now, but Paddington was the leader by a wide margin, and Ace Impact was in maybe 9th or 10th. 30% of the vote is then made up by journalists and the last 30% is votes by the racing public. Not sure if either of those can bridge the gap for Ace Impact. Yes he won against elders once but he didn’t leave France. I don’t see how he would beat out Auguste Rodin or Paddington in HOTY or Three Year Old.

Champion Stakes 3rd Horizon Dore(FR)(Dabirsim) will run next in the G1 Hong Kong Cup 2000m turf on Dec 10th 2023. 
He ran very well at Ascot even if soft going might not have been his best.
