She lost by less than 6 lengths, but I'm guessing that will be filed under Failed Turf Experiment.

So this isn't really a well-known mare, but I thought this was cool.

Verdana Bold (Rahy x True Legacy, by A.P. Indy) was a Grade 3 winner up at Woodbine back in '08. Her first foal, Copperplate (by Curlin), is raced by the partnership I'm involved in. He was only doing so-so at Churchill, Keeneland, Fair Grounds, Ellis, etc., so they decided "what the hell" and called his dam's trainer up at Woodbine. He agreed to take him, so Copperplate was shipped up north and has won both of his starts up there, an AOC in September and an allowance just yesterday--some of the guy's staff even worked with his dam.

Looks like mama has rubbed off on him :D

And they are both named after fonts, for any other word nerds out there :D

She finished ahead of the other first-time starters :D Awkward start, trailed the field, "came home with good but belated energy," beaten by 3 1/4 lengths.

Here's one I've been waiting for to hit the work tab:
I'm the Reason, 2 yo filly by Bernardini - Blind Luck, by Pollard's Vision, had a 1 furlong work in 12.80 (1/6) yesterday at Pegasus Thoroughbred Training Center.

Here's a pedigree to die for: Moonlight Magic (2yo c, Cape Cross - Melikah) won the listed Eyrefield Stakes at Leopardstown yesterday. Melikah is by Lammtarra out of Urban Sea. Moonlight Magic, trained by Jim Bolger, is now 2 for 2.

Andean, City Zip 1/2 sister to Mr. Z broke her maiden in Race 4 at Golden Gate today. Not as exciting as the Breeders Cup, of course.
