Don't know if this is news, but everyone her probably knows the battle for HOTY is most likely gonna be between Fierceness & Thorpedo Anna. My question is to the smart people here who can answer this, if they were both to win their respective races on Saturday, who is most likely to get the HOTY award? I'm pretty sure TA already will have the champion 3yr old filly award already, but what about the possible HOTY award? I would think Anna because she has won 4 G1's this year so far while Fierceness has only 2.

Fillies/mares don't win HOTY unless they win vs. males or there is no standout in the male division(this only happened once with Azeri). IMO for Thorpedo Anna to have a chance at winning HOTY, a horse without a North American G1 win has to win the Classic. Also horses in other races with a shot at HOTY need to not win, like Seize The Grey.othybat_99 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 27, 2024 4:17 pm Don't know if this is news, but everyone her probably knows the battle for HOTY is most likely gonna be between Fierceness & Thorpedo Anna. If they both win, Fierceness gets the award. She will still have some voters on her side, but he won the head-to-head matchup and the Classic field is much stronger than the Distaff this year.othybat_99 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 27, 2024 4:17 pm Don't know if this is news, but everyone her probably knows the battle for HOTY is most likely gonna be between Fierceness & Thorpedo Anna. If she wins and he loses, it depends on how exactly the race plays out, but I think she'll get a lot of support. Nobody else has been as consistent as her on the dirt this year, and she's very popular.
If they both lose... things could get interesting!
btw speaking of Fierceness, it was reported today that he's got a stud deal with Ashford. Not definite to retire this year, although you'd have to think it's pretty likely.

Ushba Tesoro got his stirrup caught in his bit this morning after he spooked at something on the track. Looked so scary but he seems to be okay. His rider was a superstar for not letting go as he (Tesoro) freaked out on the track

Interesting that JJ picked to ride Getaway Car over Citizen Bull or Gaming for the BC Juvenile.

Crazy that City of Troy was given the ML favorite over Forever Young and Fierceness
