Chrono Genesis wins with her ears pricked! Very impressive. I think she has a big chance in the Arc.

There was a bit of excitement today when two year old T O Condor got loose and mounted Roman Nature (both colts) while the jockey was still on his back Roman Nature’s back

Roman Nature gave T O Condor a kick in the gut, but they both still ran, finishing 4th and 6th respectively.

Happy pride month yall!

There was no erection showing on TO Condor (that I can see in the photos), so perhaps it was more of a dominance display? But if that kick did no damage, TO is a very lucky boy.
A Gypsy Horse breeder I know had a two-year-old colt jump a pretty tall fence to get to some mares in another paddock. Unfortunately for him, the object of his would-be affections, a statuesque Gypsy/Draft cross, objected. Violently. My friend had to have some sensitive parts stitched up, plus placing ice packs on him for a couple of weeks.
Boys.

Decent Thoroughbred sire Red Clubs (best progeny was 1,000 Guineas winner Sky Lantern) died after getting kicked in his general groin area during a covering session. I am trying to find the initial press release but it seems to be gone.

Either way, both Japanese horses are lucky to be unscathed. Im not huge on how North American horses are ponied for so much of the warm up and parade, but having at least a couple outriders on standby would be an asset in situations like these.

Unicorn Lion ran amazingly well, improving at five!!.
I suspect that his target will be the Tenno Sho Autumn.
And, hopefully, he will be the first son of No Nay Never to stand at stud in Japan later!

She will be the most serious Japanese contender for the Arc since Orfevre(JPN) in 2012/2013.

I have been waiting for Japan to send a top filly to the Arc. Considering how well distaffers have done in recent years, plus the weight break fillies get, IMO 'Genesis has a great chance.

Time for some brain surgery for that black colt. I know Japanese horses are rarely gelded..... but if he's that bad at 2..

If he's like that at two, he'll probably grow up to be Lani.

I guess that she will be headed to the Arc later this year. 8-)

Chrono Genesis will go straight to the Arc without a prep.
Lei Papale will stay home this year.

Our old friend Master Fencer won the Mercury Cup (2000m on dirt at Morioka) today. He also won the 2020 edition.

I saw somewhere that Cafe Pharoah was going to make his turf debut last weekend... did anyone see where he finished?

-- post-race comment by Christophe Lemaire (on Cafe Pharoah):
''He was okay with the turf as well as the distance (2000m). But he started off the inside post (#1) and got caught at the rail. He didn't like it.
I think that he could have run better if it were not for that.''

I thought this could be interesting for those who follow the Japanese racing.... ;)

Yushun Monthly released ''The Best 100 Japanese Horses of the 21st Century (2001-2020)'' yesterday.
This ranking is based on the fans balloting.
Those horses who ran before 2000 are not included.
(Needless to say, this type of ranking is not necessarily correct. But ''Yushun'' is known as the most prestigious magazine for the racing in Japan at least.)

Apart from some recency bias, it is a good list.
