True, but there are plenty of these owners, trainers, and riders that believe (and vote) if you can't survive on your own, too bad.BaroqueAgain1 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 09, 2022 2:18 pm I would guess that these gambling (slots) establishments are making a LOT of money, so seeing some off their profits turned over to maintain horse racing is a good thing, IMHO. IIRC, when gambling destinations cut out the racetrack next door from sharing any monies, the track...and all the owners/trainers/riders...suffer.

That is a lovely photo of Alcohol Free, although Hornby (in the RacingPost article) said, "She’s a fiery character and there’s a lot that goes on at home behind the scenes to manage her. Rachel, who looks after her, certainly has a few more scars now.”
So don't be fooled by her sweet expression.

I thought the photo itself was lovely, but the look on her face? I wouldn’t want to get too close to either end.BaroqueAgain1 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 09, 2022 3:01 pm That is a lovely photo of Alcohol Free, although Hornby (in the RacingPost article) said, "She’s a fiery character and there’s a lot that goes on at home behind the scenes to manage her. I think this video tells you all you need to know about her

She also dumped Oisin after the line when she won the Coronation last year at Ascot. Anyone who is interviewed about her mentions her abundance of... character. She sounds like a proper cow, tbh. But at least she's fast!

I think some dominant mares are very territorial when it comes to "their" space, earning the orange warning cone outside their stalls. IIRC, Goldikova was notorious for being hazardous to approach when she was in her stall - cranky at home, all business on the track.

Tenebrism won the Prix Jean Prat (G1) at Deauville today with Ryan Moore onboard. He rode three winners at Deauville after flying back overnight from NY.

Glad to see this. English riders tend to stand up higher in the stirrups and often use that windmill type of whipping from above shoulder height. This should stop that. Wish we had same rules. Hope it us strictly enforced.

I visit a UK travel forum and when visitors ask "Can you recommend a hotel in London with air conditioning?" someone always answers "You're unlikely to need AC." I've been in London when it was 90F and it was miserable (well, as miserable as London can ever be). Can't imagine it at over 100F!
I ran marathons. I saw the Taj Mahal by Moonlight. I drove Highway 1 in a convertible. I petted Zenyatta.
