G1SW Reynaldothewizard, 1/2 to Seventh Street, won the Al Shindagha Sprint Sponsored By Jaguar Xj(G2) on 2/12 at Meydan. Can anyone explain his career to me? Is he super fragile? or does he only race 3-4 times(mostly December - March) because of where he is based, or his affinity for that track? I know Zabeel International races their horses in more than one country so its kind of strange he only surfaces for a handful of starts every racing season. Anyway, its great to see a 9yo still competitive at that kind of level.

Someone can correct me if I'm mistaken, but I think many of the Emirates owners, who have large strings at Meydan every year, keep horses (often geldings) who are only for the Carnival. It seems crazy to only race them a few months per year, but you do see many of the same horses come back year after year (Mendip is another good example, although not a gelding) and then don't race anywhere else after Meydan's meet ends.

That makes sense and I understand why they would do it but it seems a horse who can compete at the top level would be worthwhile to ship to another country. Although I guess if the horse is a gelding, it really doesn't matter since there is no stud career down the road.mariasmon wrote:Flanders wrote:G1SW Reynaldothewizard, 1/2 to Seventh Street, won the Al Shindagha Sprint Sponsored By Jaguar Xj(G2) on 2/12 at Meydan. DH is a half to Keertana and Snow Top Mountain. Really glad to see her get her first graded stakes victory after a string of seconds in the American Oaks and other stakes.

nashoba's gold, half to nashoba's key, failed to fire... again. i'd like to see her dropped in class a bit to get her confidence back, then try working up from there. If she doesn't see any improvement in the class drop, they may still have time to breed her.Starine wrote:Diversy Harbor goes from last to first in Buena Vista (free)

The big mare, Irish Mission, is entered in the Very One. I think this will be her last race, at least that was what they said after her last race.

With a forecast of 21 and the news lady just saying "wind chill hitting -30"... yeah.Tessablue wrote:Zingarelli (Bernardini x Octave) has been entered to race on Friday, thus guaranteeing that Aqueduct will cancel yet again.

Sounds about right. That would make him... I think 3 for 3 on weather-related cancellations. Clearly Aqueduct needs to ban that horse from the premise if they ever want to see spring again.Somnambulist wrote:With a forecast of 21 and the news lady just saying "wind chill hitting -30"... yeah.Tessablue wrote:Zingarelli (Bernardini x Octave) has been entered to race on Friday, thus guaranteeing that Aqueduct will cancel yet again.
On the plus side, he's probably set some kind of record for number of pre-debut works.

Per the DRF, Sakima is racing in a first-level allowance tomorrow at Oaklawn (owned by Harry Rosenblum):
The same article notes that in the nightcap Oak Brook, a full brother to Giant Oak, is running.
http://www.drf.com/news/premium/sakima- ... t-job-doneHe’s got a tremendous family,” Rosenblum said of the son of Curlin out of the mare Queen of Kills. Rosenblum noted that Queen of Kills is a daughter of Tomisue’s Delight, a multiple Grade 1 winner and earner of $1.2 million and a full sister to Horse of the Year Mineshaft.

They must not think much of him if, after all of this, they haven't sent him to Florida if for no other reason just to get a race into himTessablue wrote:Sounds about right. That would make him... Top Billing (Curlin x Parade Queen) is back in an AOC on Sunday at Gulfstream (Race 10). It's his first start since a 3rd in last year's Fountain of Youth. Dam is a G3 winner and her other offspring includes Untouched Talent (dam of Bodemeister).
