This race is going to be hilariously slow. Not because of the quality of the horses, but because it's got ye olde muddy racetrack.

the NBC guys keep saying Imagination has never been on a wet track. After all the CA winter rain, hasn't he trained on one?

The MRH owners are going nuts right now, I'm sure, as Seize the Grey proves the pundits were wrong.

Dan definitely was gallant in defeat. He is sure a good horse who tries

They always shut the track for training when it rains.BaroqueAgain1 wrote: ↑Sat May 18, 2024 7:05 pm the NBC guys keep saying Imagination has never been on a wet track. After all the CA winter rain, hasn't he trained on one?

Yeah, Dan is a good horse and I think he'll be better at 9f going forward. Jockey had him in a good spot but had to concede the rail in the stretch, which may have made a slight difference, but Seize the Grey just kept going. I genuinely thought he had no shot, and it seems everyone else felt the same way because nobody seemed too worried about him up there. Shades of Oxbow, but this horse does have a pretty tremendous pedigree for distance, so I guess it shouldn't have been THAT surprising.flytpthestars wrote: ↑Sat May 18, 2024 7:09 pm Dan definitely was gallant in defeat. Imagination, meanwhile, got the Concert Tour-esque "we're just happy to be here" ride.

PETA won't allow it, track is closed for training in the rain.BaroqueAgain1 wrote: ↑Sat May 18, 2024 7:05 pm the NBC guys keep saying Imagination has never been on a wet track. After all the CA winter rain, hasn't he trained on one?
I've found it easier to tear up tickets at 8/1 instead of 8/5.

thinair pointing out on Twitter that the top three all ran two weeks ago... race your racehorses, people!
Wonder if anyone goes to Belmont out of this? Dan probably gets a break, I'd imagine, but wouldn't be shocked at all if we see Seize the Grey wheel back again.
Congrats to everyone who has a piece of StG!
