Be interested to see a similar analysis of other trainers. It's like when Medina Spirit died we had a detailed analysis of his necropsy, but not Midnight Bourbon or New York Thunder and God forbid Maple Leaf Mel.
I agree. People love to rip apart Baffert but if any other trainers horse gets hurt, nobody ever deep dives into their past or day to day vet list/horse/life. Its just another day in horse racing. Its annoying  You should be doing this to ALL trainers whenever ANY horse gets pulled up. Anyway, I hope Mr Fisk has a fast recovery and I am glad that he can have surgery. Since Arrogate is an Unbridled's Song, I am always holding my breath whenever offspring of his race.

I thought his injury was pretty obvious he was head-bobbing lame. Interested to know which leg it looked like RF to me but they kept saying LF on FanDrool. Who will do the surgery? Wonder if this is the same fetlock that had the injection? Sadly, Likely retired now but glad he is ok.

I really hope Mr. Fisk makes it out OK. I can't say I've been a big follower of him but he is a nice horse.

Happy to see Johannes win the G1 Shoemaker BUT I was really pulling for Funtastic Again. Hopefully there is a G1 in his future.

Nyquist has turned into a nice sire.

Fandrool kept minimizing how the horse was acting when the vets examined him IMO
Anyone with eyes could see the horse was very outch and uncomfortable when his legs were being examined.
Hoping for a successful surgery and full recovery for this lovely horse.

Super bummed to hear about Mr. Fisk but grateful his prognosis is excellent. I'll keep hoping they'll bring him back until I hear otherwise.

Yes I was not surprised at Todd S as he there to promote racing and handicap but Simon B as a former trainer should have known better. Maybe that is how they are directed by FanDrool management to handle any type of injury-minimize it and say it is just a precaution and the horse is fine. How they could cut away to a replay when the poor horse was so lame pulling up without a mention is just beyond clueless to me.
They’re not catering to Vets, Vet Techs, serious horse people, etc. I’m sure Bray knew something was probably up but without knowing specifics, it’s probably best to be conservative in doling out information. If Bray says, “I think Mr. Fisk broke his leg and they’ll have to surgically repair it to hope to save him”, he’d be accused of sensationalizing and with good reason since it’s just an educated guess. Last week I was watching the Dodger game. Teoscar Hernandez, that night’s right fielder, went to field a base hit while moving to his right and you could see his right foot turn unnaturally underneath him. He winced and jumped in obvious pain. As someone who has played a game or two and did what he just did, myself, the announcers, the coaches and trainer and probably Hernandez himself feared anything from a sprained ankle to a broken foot. The trainer goes out, Hernandez walks around a bit and then stayed in the game, never showed any sign of a limp and has played every inning since.

I thought Simon Bray was being honest and the horse seemed to be putting weight on the leg; my take was that he was amped up from the race and didn't want to be fussed with. But it's good that Kimura felt something off.

Just one note I didn't see mentioned and I thought was rather odd.

On the backstretch after the race the jock was waving his arms trying to get the attention of the outrider. He continued to walk towards the outrider while still sitting stop Mr Fisk.

Had to be a couple of critical minutes before the jock hopped off but after he thought he felt something was off.

Odd, no?

Yes I felt the jockey was slow to dismount after the horse was obviously very lame. He should have gotten off sooner and then flagged down help. Bet was also examining the wrong leg based on jockey report. No wonder he was ouchy and struggling to stand during the vet exam-they were making him stand on his fractured leg!

More details will stay with Bob for 30-60 days before going to a rehab/ farm. Will reassess in 4 months. And it was the RF as I suspected, not the LF as was reported on FanDrool and by the jockey. https://www.thoroughbreddailynews.com/b ... r-mr-fisk/

So glad you're here to make the posts I'd get yelled at for ;)

Very glad the horse is okay. Genuine question: is it common for horses to rehab from (relatively minor) surgeries at the racetrack? I feel like we only ever hear about the surgery-to-retirement pipeline, and I really have no idea how it works otherwise.

I get “yelled at”, I just don’t care.

Since he’s on stall refinement anyway, being in a familiar place is preferable. Especially if a nice blonde lady is going to spontaneously come feed you treats. When my sciatica acts up, my wife brings me treats. Works like a charm. I just can’t figure out why she insists I stay in a stall.

Great news regarding Mr. Fisk and his surgery. I'm pleased they aren't rushing him off to the shed for now.
