Owner Hiroyuki Asanuma is a dermatologist and he names his horses [Derma] + [something].
''Sotogake'' is a sumo technique (''Kimarite'').
You may see how Sotogake is performed in the youtube video below:

That's a nice filed!
Will the two champion females in 2022, best 3yo filly (Stars on Earth) and best older mare (Geraldina), beat the boys in the open G1?

He was a terrific winner and set a new stakes record. Also happy to see Yutaka with yet another top-level winner.

Yutaka Take, aged 54 years and 19 days, became the oldest jockey to win a JRA G1.
Previous record had been held by Yukio Okabe, aged 53 years and 361 days, who rode Symboli Kris S(USA) to win the Tenno Sho Autumn in 2002.
Yutaka Take was also the youngest jockey, aged 19 years and 236 days, to win a JRA G1 with Super Creek(JPN) in the Kikuka Sho in 1988.

“Imagine it: normal people could buy Almond Eye. It brings joy for so many people who would never have been able to own a champion like that.” Many of Japan's best horses are raced by 'everyday' fans, via affordable club syndicate shares.

Interesting read!!
Thanks so much for sharing. :D
I'm thrilled with Fujita's decision.
Through his first five starts, Mandarin Hero's running style has been to come from off the pace. In the Santa Anita Derby, Fujita plans to use a jockey from the local colony.
Glad you enjoyed it. I hope the colt performs well in the Santa Anita Derby.

Mandarin Hero(JPN)(Shanghai Bobby) ran HUGE to finish 2nd in the G1 Santa Anita Derby!! :D 8-) :D
That was a ''victory'' for the NAR racing people and fans.
And Kate Hunter's tweets two weeks ago were absolutely right!!

https://twitter.com/KeibaKate/status/16 ... 4894494721
What Ushba Tesoro & Marche Lorraine keep proving to me is that I really need to stop underestimating NAR form. No it isn’t internationally rated at ALL, comes with little to no black type, but again and again they prove to be up to the task. Dubai World Cup and Breeders Cup.
Bodes well for horses like Mandarin Hero who will be running G1 Santa Anita next month.

It now seems that he has the pedigree to run well on the conventional dirt. :D

He covered 9F at Santa Anita in 1:48.69 today and 1800m (about 9F) at Oi Racecourse in 1:54.4.
That shows how Japanese dirt tracks are different from US dirt tracks, too.
