I never knew her story, I knew the ending was bad. I don't know how long I've know that, it feels like something I've always known, the same with Lamb Chop. Anyway, it was a pretty good read. She certainly was tiny.

I remember her and being upset when she died; I was at Santa Anita when Lamb Chop broke down. :(
I ran marathons. I saw the Taj Mahal by Moonlight. I drove Highway 1 in a convertible. I petted Zenyatta.

I wasn't around when she was running but always loved her story, save for the ending. She certainly could run.

Too bad they didn’t have the surgical fusion technique and better aesthetics, recovery pools etc that we have today over 50 years later-same goes for Ruffian -they may had a different outcome. My Dad used to talk about Dark Mirage with reverence. What a filly. RIP.
