All three horses were involved in a tragic racing accident .... two of the jockeys (Ron Turcotte on "Flag" and Ramon Dominguez on Convocation) were severely injured and the third (Mike Venezia on Mr. Walter K) was killed as was the horse.

What a wicked person that vet was and, more or less, got off with a slap on his wrist. Lebon was sacrificed, and apparently his death meant nothing to those who were involved in this scandal ... or to those who investigated it. Wonder how many horses lost their lives due to that psycho? Now, that was one evil person!

Cinzano was robbed of his natural ability to perform on the track; sounded like a very talented racehorse.

Question:

Horse whose sire jumped a fence to get to his dam, a blind English-bred claiming mare, which he was the result of that union ... a small bay that was gelded almost immediately.

This horse could run short and long races. Any surface suited him. He carried up to 133 pounds and broke more track records than any other American racehorse up to that time. At the age of three and four, he was the undisputed champion.

He died on the first day of the year. On that New Year's Eve, his owner suffered a fatal heart attack. A few hours later, the horse slipped on ice in his paddock and broke his leg and had to be euthanized.

The gelding made the Blood-Horse magazine's list of the top 100 U.S. thoroughbred champions of the 20th Century. Who was he?
