Thank you for this, I follow a lot of claimers. Lots of them really run hard and put themselves out there each and every time. Hope you have good luck in locating those that you are looking for, I have several that I am trying to locate as well.

This is a legitimate rescue that's hit some hard times. This man has a heart of gold. He rescues all horses including TB's. Vocal support is much needed, thanks.

ReRun pulled this guy from a kill pen on Wednesday: 8yo Rising of the Moon. MD-bred gelding, 51 starts, last raced May 2011. Think this lucky guy will go to Lisa Molloy for training, once he's been through quarantine, evaluation, and some down time.

The following TBs were pulled from Mike's Auction last night by AHR or associates:

Devoted to Shark: 4yo filly, last raced 8/4/13 at Los Al. Another Antonio Soto special

Don Chupe: 3yo unraced (officially) gelding. Brought in by match racers, says Megan.

Mumu Mamoon: 11yo broodmare

Spirit's Heart: unraced 11yo broodmare

Threeoffthetee: 4yo unraced filly, said by a former owner to be in foal to a "high-priced" Andalusian stallion. (You certainly can't tell that by looking at her.)

Tattooed but unidentified (as of now) ~4yo gelding -- too frightened to let anyone handle him.

Re Mike's Auction, I hope the BLM mustang mare and foal got pulled, but, looking at the facebook page, couldn't tell.

Disregard - I just saw that the pair is on the list of horses AHR managed to pull.

The big 5yo gelding turns out to be Dark Demon by Artie Schiller. He never raced but was in training in late 2012 at Belmont -- and turns up a year later in a low-end SoCal auction.

Both the gray filly Threeoffthetee and the 4YO gelding Dark Demon look like they've been through some harrowing experiences. They'll be stunning once they realize that their passage through hell is over and things are looking up.

Interesting story today about this well known retirement facility, and the difficult times thay are going
through. Makes no bones about her thoughts on some of the worthless owners these days...

Artie Schiller is one of my favorite stallions...I hope Dark Demon, a grandson of the great sire El Prado, finds a good home.

Louisiana Horse Rescue Association lost little Billie Jean today. She was born to an emaciated Ryder mare 9 months ago and was bottle fed. The vet diagnosed her with a brain abscess that was congenital. She was having massive seizures that were unable to be controlled. LHRA let her go.

Poor little girl, just when we thought she had it made. I suppose there's a huge chance that this all goes back to the starvation and neglect her dam suffered during pregnancy.

From a couple of articles on a quick search for brain abscess and seizures, --"....Although the direct cause of epilepsy in horses is unknown, brain conditions such as tumors, infections or damage from parasitic worms have been linked to epileptic seizures..." http://www.petmd.com/horse/emergency/co ... r_epilepsy

Abstract
OBJECTIVE:
To determine clinical features of horses with bacterial meningitis or brain abscesses secondary to infectious disease processes involving the head.

The filly had so many problems from birth perhaps her little immune system didn't develop properly. She was a bottle baby and maybe she didn't get the right antibodies in those first days. I'm sure the condition of the dam didn't help, but her failure to thrive with optimum care seemed to indicate something not quite right from the start.

How is the dam today? Where is she? Anyone know?

AHR got this handsome 2006 gelding at the Cowtown auction last night. He's a big boy and his name is Copiously. He hasn't run since 2010, and supposedly has had 30 days of barrel racing training. AHR went after him because they thought he would be prime bait for match racers -- but ended up getting him for $275, less than the "meat price" (given his size).

He's a lucky boy. Hope they can also pull the older gray Arab mare (I think the main problem is finding an approved adopter).

Three broodmares sold to KB at New Holland today, but after an urgent and amazing networking effort, all three were bailed: Apollo Miss (11), Buffed Ice (17), and E's on Main (7).

This is part of what it took: Dawn/Mellen/After the Finish Line and some previous owners offering money not just for purchase and transport, but for care & rehab; The Race Fund arranging urgent transport and layover; Deborah Jones leading the networking and Melissa Ruderhausen being in the right place at the right time; and, most of all, Jim Rhodes of Equine Rescue of Aiken offering to take in all three broodies.. They will leave Sunday for Aiken.

There were a lot of TBs at New Holland today, say people who were there; some sold to non-KBs; I am looking to see if other rescues got others.
