Jane:
Concealed Identity -- I thought "big mistake" when I saw him entered.
Didn't think he stood a chance -- but 10 to 1 odds were not terrible, so some must have liked his chances.
If he's going to run well anywhere, it would be at Laurel.

Thought the same thing, he doesn't usually like dirt and I thought the Stake
race was not smart-but I was wrong!!!!!! he did great! was so proud for him.

Well RSO is running on the 25th on dirt (thank goodness) in a 7500 claiming race and is right next to Hotcha Do It(cl 8,000) I never like that
, but they are next to each other so maybe they will be either 1 and 1 or 1 and 2!!!!!! go Smarties!!!!!!!

I would keep Run Smart One at the $5,000 level where he is competitive.

Yes, agreed-still can't get in touch with Ashton, actually have stopped trying. Mr. Budhoo had ask them to call him about RSO, but has heard nothing. But RSO does look great, so he must be treating him good. This is #98-RSO needs to be retired!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Run Smart One -- no chance at $7.500
stumbled and bumped.
They are trying to get him decent odds in a $5,000 claimer.
Meanwhile, they are putting the horse in meaningless races that carry some risk.

One of the best moments for us Smarty followers just took place in the $200,000 Marathon at Santa Anita on the Breeder's Cup card.
Cary Street (Miguel Mena) just laid way back and let the field cook itself on a 1.35+ mile, which is absurd time in a Marathon.
Then, Cary Street got rolling and picked up the entire field as he took over the race and moved away impressively.

Cary Street has been impressive in some other races this year but this had to be his best. He rated really well. Just a picture-perfect race. Textbook.

It's a shame Cary Street is a gelding.
He looks like he has the right stuff for the breeding shed (almost the right stuff)
You have to see this race to believe it.

Yes, it was the greatest-have seen it at least 3 times. The first I was just in unbelief. The way he advanced was amazing- reminded me of Smarty's button (as I call it) by far the best race I have witnessed, except Smarty's of course. This should put Smarty is great demand (I hope) Cary Street certainly did his dad proud. And what a great ride from Mena. He is the one that rode Backtalk most of the time, before Backtalk was retired-I sure do miss him. I am still blown away by Cary Street's race-just so proud of him. And I have to admit the second time I watched the race was sweet because I new he won and could relax. :D rest up Cary Street, you certainly deserve it!!!!

I had a little Breeder's Cup party.
My wife hit a 60 to 1 shot in the first race because she had a college friend named Brandy.
Meanwhile, I have all these charts and newspapers and I hit almost nothing.
The Classic was a travesty and certainly not a fair outcome. The stewards are reluctant to take down horses in the big races but Bayern wiped out several horses. Nice to see California Chrome run a decent race -- though a tainted outcome.
