Run Smart one trailed again in seven furlong $7.500 claimer at Philly Park.
Probably next race will be at $5,000 level at a mile or so.
(Even that may be too much competition for him)
Next stop: Mountaineer or Finger Lakes
Budhoo may be able to buy him back if slide in performance continues.

Run Smart One:
Drop to $5,000 level helped
Distance back to a mile helped
Weight off -- apprentice jockey — helped
Saving ground all the way helped.
This was the race they were pointing for.
He needs to stay at $5,000 level -- that's all he can handle.

Always look forward to your posts on RSO. He really looks amazing!!! He is a little fighter, but still needs to be retired!!!!!!! I still talk to Mr. B, can't understand why he sold him, he still keeps up with RSO. Can't contact the new trainer-# has been disconnected and Parx does not have another. So Mr. B is going to try to get a new number for me(hopefully). I have the barn # for Ashton, but it is a little far from Jacksonville, Fl. So just have to wait!!!!!! he looked great in the winners' circle though.onecalicocat wrote:Run Smart One:

Run Smart One will not always get the perfect spot.
Have to savor these victories as they will be fewer and fewer.
Philly is an OK track but when you get into the real small-time tracks, the horses are not in the greatest environment.
By the way, California Chrome will run at Philly September 20.
That's a big coup for Philly.-- casino money has really boosted Philly's racing level.

Follow the Leader back to the races -- what a great competitor.
If he hadn't been injured he would be a stakes winner
Run Smart One was moved up to $7,500 at Philly where he doesn't stand a chance.
But he was a creditable fourth at a mile and won almost $1,000.
Back to $5,000 and he can compete.

you are so right about FtL---he is just great!!! guess he didn't like being a show horse and his trainer decided to run him. And then he was claimed the 1st race and Magee claimed him back. Hope Magee can find a way to keep him. I wonder how he would do in a 5000 allowance? Plasma Beam's trainer ran him in that race, of course, until PB had to be retired with multiple injuries I might add. Some trainers just don't know when to stop running them! So nervous today when RSO ran, but I watched it and he was off a little slow and ran very wide-but 4th was good. And he is safe-to me that is the main thing. He looked like a cool cookie in the post parade and is gorgeous! Mr. Budhoo says he is a tough little horse!! and always says don't worry about him-he will tell them what to do. Mr. B still keeps up with him, because I can't get in touch with Ashton. His phone is disconnected! But I think you are right about the 5000. It would be easier on RSO until we can get him retired!

Big-time, undefeated three-year-old Shared Belief was ganged up on in the Awesome Again.
He did overcome it to win seventh in a row.
Shades of Smarty's Belmont.
Espinoza got seven days for hindering Shared Belief.
I believe the infamous Jerry Bailey was commentator on this race.
I wonder what he said about the incident.
Anyone know?
