Rocketry finished 3rd by just a nose in the Birdstone today. Just got nipped for second at the wire.
Hard Not To Love finished last in the Clement Hirsch. I think maybe that distance is too long for her. She hasn't won since she started stretching out.

She bumped hard with Ce Ce at the start of the race. This was the side of her missing eye, so she didn't see Ce Ce and them, BAM, bumped into her. Given her anxiety related to her sight issue, this unexpected bump might have stressed her enough so that she didn't run well.Happy Endings wrote: ↑Mon Aug 03, 2020 12:06 am

I didn't notice that, but I did see a post today on Twitter where that was mentioned. She certainly didn't seem to run her race. Poor baby.MTO wrote: ↑Mon Aug 03, 2020 11:40 amShe bumped hard with Ce Ce at the start of the race. This was the side of her missing eye, so she didn't see Ce Ce and them, BAM, bumped into her. ATTACHMENT RATE ran second to Art Collector in the Ellis Park Derby today. He ran a great race, very wide on the first turn and my guess is that he ran farther than the winner did. Very encouraged by Attachment Rate's performance, though I doubt he has enough points to get into the Kentucky Derby. NECKER ISLAND was 3rd. So both got KD points. Not enough, though.

ATTACHMENT RATE now has 35 Derby points. Likely to get in. He earned 20 for 2nd in Ellis Park Derby and had 15 points beforehand.

Okay, I figured with the long run up to the KD and so many more prep races that it would take more points than usual to get in, but I guess some of the leading candidates monopolized the races, so Attachment Rate is #18 on the list. I had not looked and just assumed it would take a lot more points this year.MTO wrote: ↑Sun Aug 09, 2020 7:53 pmHappy Endings wrote: ↑Sun Aug 09, 2020 6:37 pm ATTACHMENT RATE ran second to Art Collector in the Ellis Park Derby today. I wonder what Silver State is up to. Have not heard anything since March.

SILVER STATE worked 4 furlongs at Churchill today, 8/10/2020. What a coincidence that you asked about him yesterday and this morning is his first work in 5 months. Maybe your lucky day.

...As for whether the son of Hard Spun will appear in the Run for the Roses, Romans was noncommittal, but said he’d like to see it happen. Attachment Rate currently is ranked No. 18 on the Kentucky Derby leaderboard with 35 points, putting him in the field with only one points race remaining.
“That’s the best race he’s run for us so far, I think,” Romans said of the Ellis Park trip. “With that being said, we should probably try the Derby.”
....Romans, who previously had said he was waiting for a clean trip from Attachment Rate, said the Ellis Park race was exactly what he was looking for. He also expects the colt would do well at the Derby's 1 1/4 miles.
“I think he will,” Romans said. “That’ll be the big separation, as it always has been.”

I like the sound of that. He had a much wider trip than the winner did on Sunday, so I think he has more talent than the margin of victory implied.MTO wrote: ↑Mon Aug 10, 2020 8:51 pm ...As for whether the son of Hard Spun will appear in the Run for the Roses, Romans was noncommittal, but said he’d like to see it happen. NECKER ISLAND likely pointed to KY DERBY if enough deflections.

Necker Island has earned just 14 points toward the Kentucky Derby. That places him 28th on the points leaderboard, but with a number of defections expected this son of Hard Spun should make the main body of the field...
“If there's any way that there would be an open spot, he will be there for sure,” trainer Chris Hartman told Horse Racing Nation. “I think he'll probably be able to run a mile and a quarter. Class would be the other thing. I don't know. I know Wayne would love to run him in the race and it's going to have to have a lot of things unfold for him to get in there. You never can tell, I guess.”

Really bummed, but I feared something was amiss with no word about him since March. I wonder what the issue was. I had started making inquiries in a few places, trying to find out what was going on. Glad he is okay and I hope they can make a good stud deal for him. He deserves a shot.
