One winner today so far. Attachment Rate at Gulfstream in race #3. A maiden race by 6 1/4 lengths despite being on the wrong lead. Still learning. Just his third race and second since last June. Track was sloppy. Could be a good one. Ran a 93 Bris in his last race on a dry track, closing from last. He needs to learn to change leads coming off the turn. This was his first route race, a one turn mile. He should appreciate added distance with Afleet Alex as his broodmare sire. And he's a Virginia-bred.

Hard Not To Love easy winner of Santa Monica stakes. Amazing what she can do with only the one eye. Being on the outside with no left eye, she can't see horses to her left. She stayed closer to the pace today as they were going pretty slow up front. She saved the day, as Silver State was 3rd in the Risen Star and Journeytofreedom looked to have a lot of run in him but ran into a wall of horses coming off the turn and got totally stopped. Really killed his momentum. I think he would have finished much better than he did if he had found some running room.

And this about the headpiece she wears....She didn't appear to have any antics today like she did before the LaBrea.

SPUN TO RUN taking time off, already at NJ farm.

....at Dr. Patty Hogan’s Fair Winds Farm in New Jersey getting some time off...
When I get concerned about a horse I send them to Patty,” Donaldson said. “He could use some home-cooking for a while, get his coat back, get him looking like the champion he is.”
...
“When Patty tells me he’s ready to go, we’ll see what the time frame is, where we are,” Donaldson said. “I’d probably say the Met Mile is a pretty good goal.

Good news. They talked about giving him a break in the fall. Hope he heals up quickly and comes back strong. But I noticed that article was from February 5. How did we miss that! Glad you caught it, MTO!MTO wrote: ↑Sun Feb 16, 2020 1:39 pm SPUN TO RUN taking time off, already at NJ farm.

Hard Not To Love earned a 100 Beyer Speed Number in her Santa Monica win yesterday. Validates the strength of her win. I read that she ran her final 8th in 12 seconds and that bodes well for stretching out. They mentioned the Beholder Mile may be her next target.

Attachment Rate got a very positive mention and write-up on Steve Haskin's Derby Dozen today. He's not among the top 12, of course. He's one of the ones knocking on the door.

We actually had coast-to-coast monster maiden wins this weekend, as Dale Romans sent out ATTACHMENT RATE to blow his field away at Gulfstream, winning by six lengths in a sharp 1:35.03 for the mile in the slop after making a huge middle move through insane early fractions. And he never changed leads in the stretch. By Hard Spun, out of an Afleet Alex mare, this promising colt was coming off a second, in which he turned in one of the most explosive late moves you'll see all year. His victory was overshadowed by Charlatan, but it was awfully impressive, and he is much further advanced. Romans said he is a "very good horse" and he will look for a prep for him. He just hasn't decided which one. For all you Alydar fans, he is inbred to the great Calumet star.

SILVER GTO won race #4 at Mahoning Valley today. His record is now 32-6-3-5. Second gate to wire win in a row under new trainer. First allowance win of his career. Most of his starts have been in claiming races. Nice change for him.

ROCKETRY worked 5 furlongs in 1:01 flat this morning. That is the fastest 5 furlong work I could find for him going as far back as 2 years.

GREEN LIGHT GO is a probable for Saturday's Fountain of Youth. I wonder if they are considering Lasix.
