Steve Haskin had this to say about Spinoff and the Travers....
As for the influence of the Belmont Stakes, many believe runner-up Tacitus was the best horse after a wide trip throughout from the outside post and bumping hard with War of Will in the upper stretch and then lugging in. Tax was fourth, beaten only 2 3/4 lengths, and Spinoff was sixth, beaten only three lengths. I believe all three have an excellent chance to win the Travers, with Spinoff, if he runs, being a very live longshot coming off a stirring victory over older horses, including the top-class Lone Sailor, winner of $1.2 million, who he crushed by 5 3/4 widening lengths. He may wait for the Pennsylvania Derby, but if he runs back in the Travers he could be sitting on another big race following a stylish and professional performance going a mile and an eighth and with a race over the track. But Todd Pletcher normally doesn't like running horses back in 18 days, so if he does you have to figure he bounced out of that race in great shape and is looking for more.

Predicament won race # 12 at Sapporo in Japan today. Her record is 6-3-1-0.

Hard Spun has frequent winners in Japan, which is remarkable considering he was only there one season, I think, but I seldom post them because replays are hard to find.

Hidden Scroll took some time off, due back in Mott's barn next week (last week of Aug 2019)

First several paragraphs of this article talk about Hidden Scroll

Today, there's an empty stall at Mott's Saratoga barn with Hidden Scroll's name on it. For now, anyway, Hidden Scroll has been a one-hit wonder .....

Oh, wow, thanks for that! I've been wondering and hoping he wasn't injured. Hidden Scroll may yet prove to be better than he had a chance to show this past spring. His damsire is Empire Maker, who is the grandsire of American Pharoah. Seems like Hidden Scroll's got plenty of stamina in his pedigree for longer distances. Only time will tell, of course, and many of Hard Spun's offspring mature later than 3, so his best may be yet to come. Heck, if he'd gotten in the Derby, he probably would have skipped over that sloppy surface. Who knows?! Ha!

Rohrbacher won race #7 at Colonial Downs today. His record is 5-3-1-1. Surprised he was in a claiming race with a decent record like that.

Green Light Go pointing to G1 Hopeful on September 2.
The conditioner also confirmed that Green Light Go (Hard Spun), last-out winner of the Aug. 10 GII Saratoga Special S., would make his next start in the GI Runhappy Hopeful S. Sept. 2. Jerkens had contemplated waiting for the GI Champagne S. at Belmont Oct. 5.

Any news on MALPAIS?

3yo Hard Spun colt trained by Joe Sharp. Stakes winning sprinter. Last ran May 28 on Preakness undercard in Chick Lang Stakes. Stumbled at start and didn't run well. Wonder if he got hurt and took time off.

I remember Malpais. I haven't heard anything. I've been wondering about Out For A Spin, too. Nothing since KY Oaks day. It's really hard not to worry when these horses just drop off the map all of a sudden. I hope they are both okay and just taking a breather.

Bullet work this morning for Green Light Go

This is an excerpt from an article on DRF Live and I can't figure out how to get a link to it.

Green Light Go speeds through half-mile work for Hopeful
Green Light Go, winner of both of his career starts including the Grade 2 Saratoga Special, zipped a half-mile in 47.09 seconds Tuesday morning in preparation for a start in Monday's Grade 1, $350,000 Hopeful Stakes. The work was the fastest of 16 half-mile works at the distance on a slow Tuesday morning in Saratoga.

Working just before 9:30 a.m. on the main track under Kelvin Pahal, Green Light Go went in quarter splits of 23.59 and 23.50 on Daily Racing Form clocker Mike Welsch's watch and galloped out five furlongs in 1:00.22.
Gozilla is going in the Hopeful, too. Should be interesting.

GREEN LIGHT GO scratched from G1 Hopeful at Saratoga today. Track is sloppy. Not sure if this is reason for scratch. Many scratches in various races. Turf races are off turf. He was scratched late. Lots of rain shortly before the scratch. Maybe trainer didn't want to run him in the slop.

EDIT/UPDATE:

Trainer Jimmy Jerkens told the Daily Racing Form he simply "didn't want to run in the mud."

SPUN TO RUN won the G3 Smarty Jones today at Parx. Thrilling stretch run.
I hope they run him in the PA Derby which is 19 days away. If he comes out good from this race and if he shows he's ready on short rest. 19 days is better than a 2 week rest.

He's 3 for 3 at Parx this year. In between the 3 Parx wins is a 3rd place showing in the G1 Haskell.

He has a free berth to the PA Derby. Fingers crossed that he gets there.

Spun to Run earned free entry into the $1 million Pennsylvania Derby (G1) scheduled for Sept. 21 at Parx.
